I've posted my usual on-line sources thread over on our Unoffy.

If you can see any errors of omission or commission, then please PM me with corrections or additions and I'll endeavour to edit the thread if I have time.

Since Auntie Beeb ditched their MediaPlayer streams I've been unable to reliably identify the NN in the on-line BBC Live Event NN streams so if anyone can help me then I would be much obliged - it used to be the same number as appeared in the MediaPlayer URL.

If you are coming up to see us then have a safe journey and enjoy your visit save, of course, for a torrid 80 minutes after 2:00pm!

Advice on parking, shuttle buses and local hostelries, etc. can be found on my thread.

Why not come over to The Bloody Big Drum in the South Stand and say hello - I'll be there. To endear yourselves to The New Birtles Faithful, bring cake for half time!

Bet365 (possibly others) are streaming the game.

All you need to do is open an account and deposit a small sum (which you don't need to bet). While your account is in credit you can watch their streams.

The resolution is only 480 x 260 but it's judder free.

Interesting (?) little tidbit

Hello, welcome to bet365 live chat. How may I help you?

MrOther
I'm looking at opening an account, but the dropdown list of countries doesn't include the Netherlands!

Ailie T
Unfortunately, we do not accept customers who are resident in the Netherlands, this is why you would be unable to locate the country in the drop down list.

MrOther
Ah, that's interesting. Why not?

Ailie T
One moment please.

Ailie T
The Dutch monopoly lotto won a case against Ladbrokes in the Dutch courts.

The Dutch court held that Ladbrokes were operating illegally under Dutch law accepting bets over the Internet from Dutch customers, despite the fact Ladbrokes operate from the UK.

However, this is being challenged in both the European and Dutch courts and we are very hopeful that the decision will be eventually overturned.

When the case is finally completed we will re-evaluate our position and hope to welcome Dutch customers back to bet365.

MrOther
OK, clear. Thanks.

Belgium and France are also missing.

I may have to resort to Hola! and a fictitious billing address, because I am tired of crappy Cricfree feeds.

Actually, I'd be quite happy to pay (a fiver, perhaps even a tenner?) to view the match live on-line, but it's apparently not worth the trouble for anyone to offer me that option.

Don't BT sport have an internet feed on their app? So you could investigate paying them?

I have halfheartedly researched this in the past. I think I'd be required to take a BTSport subscription. Maybe I should look at that again. Thx for the suggestion.

No worries, I have BT broadband, so it comes as part of the package... so I can't investigate and let you know; sorry.

The game today wasn't on BT Sport.

Don't they show other games on their app?

The BT Sport app and web site only show three main games live, the same three games that you can watch on your TV if you have BT Sport on your Sky / cable subscription.

To watch the other games the only option I've found is to watch the streams on betting sites.

They are lower quality but they are free once you've created an account and deposited some money.

I went along on Saturday, with my son, both of us being longstanding Quins STH. When we went into the South Stand before the KO, the steward pointed out that the stand was usually a home supporters stand and would we like to go to the other end of the ground. Naturally we stayed put and were just a few feet away from the Big Drum. We had a great afternoon, massively outnumbered, especially the first half! The banter was good right up to the final whistle, although we were amazed to see Sale supporters leaving in large numbers towards the end of the game, when Sale were pressing very hard and the possibility that they might sneak the win was looming large.

A word of warning to potential visiting supporters - be aware that getting out of the car park is a very time consuming exercise, nothing moved until 45 minutes after the game had ended. The same thing happened on my previous visit to AJB so I guess it is normal.

The reason that Sale supporters often leave just before No Side is to make sure that they can get off the car park at the head of the queue. As you noted, getting off is a nightmare, doubly so if you aren't quick out of the traps!

Others leave because the popular return shuttle to the Trafford Centre, and other shuttles to elsewhere, leave within 15 minutes of No Side so a brisk jog is needed to catch them before they get too full and/or leave.

The somewhat sparse public transport (buses every 30 minutes only) also fill up quickly so, once again, those not quite so nimble of foot need to leave early(ish) and break into a trot to ensure that they can get on the next available service.

Unfortunately, none of the various transport options encourage supporters to stay behind after the game and socialise, thus spending money at the Stadium.

As you may have noticed, the South Stand houses both the Bloody Big Drum and the Choir. Generally, lovers of melodious classical drumming stand with the Choir and lovers of beautiful choral singing tend to stand by the Drum - I can't think why!

I'm glad that you enjoyed the South Stand, but you should have come over to The Drum and introduced yourself. As usual I was standing next to it although, being tone deaf and musically talentless (as is our normal "player"), I don't beat the proverbial out of it.

Next time you come up come over and say Hello.
