Prediction League 2017-18

Only a few days before the first Premiership game of the season and 21 out of 22 are predicting an away (Quins) win. To all of you who have not entered yet, come on and give it a go, let us see if we can get to at least 30 playing the game.

Done. Never got a prediction right in my life so perhaps I should be voting for a big Irish win.

Stooperman 29 August, 2017 15:59
I'm in! Fully expecting to be a one season wonder, there's a distinct smell of pasties and Tribute in the air smiling smiley

I'm in. Fully determined to beat a certain Cornishman this year!

36 signed up now with only one predicting a Quins loss, might just make 40 players by Saturday. Irish fans have 55% predicting an Irish victory.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
ChiddQuin 01 September, 2017 10:28
Well you've got to start the season with optimism!

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Bedfordshire Boy 02 September, 2017 12:23
42 players signed up with just the one predicting an Irish win - there is still time to give it a go. Irish prediction league still pretty evenly divided with 57% hoping for a home win.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
RodneyRegis 02 September, 2017 16:25
I find it very hard to be level-headed. Can very rarely predict a Quins loss.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Bedfordshire Boy 02 September, 2017 21:05
Looks as though the Irish 57% new a lot more than our 98%, not a good start.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Bedfordshire Boy 08 September, 2017 18:15
Seven people not yet registered a prediction, weather looks reasonable and we now know the teams, you are running out of time.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Bedfordshire Boy 09 September, 2017 11:29
Less than 4 hours to go and still 5 not predicted, need a full house for this week.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Bedfordshire Boy 09 September, 2017 20:32
Looks like all 42 players managed to get their predictions logged this week, well done. One point covering the top 17 positions, early days yet. Next week will be interesting, difficult score to predict.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Bedfordshire Boy 16 September, 2017 16:40
Still 5 more predictions needed to maintain a full house for 3 consecutive weeks.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Bedfordshire Boy 17 September, 2017 11:21
We are missing 3 predictors still, a bit early in the season for it to be tailing off.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Bedfordshire Boy 17 September, 2017 22:03
As I said to my neighbour at the match today, I think you will be top of the pile when I upload todays result, and hey presto, there he is, well done Dave.

Hey bb, can you out a link to the actual leagur in the OP?

I can't find it on the mobile site.

Need DOK to sort this out, it is not available on my phone either.

I'm having a bit of a shocker. I might start a Q_J out campaign. However, I still think I may be the best man to manage my team, although I could be wrong.

If you look at the menus on the left, under "Harlequins" at the top is "Prediction League". That should get you there.

Two wrong results and a missed week.

I'm clearly the Worcester of this league.

Also, who came up with the points system of 1 for the correct result but 3 for being within 6 points of the correct score?

Surely getting the result right is woefully under-marked?

Someone backing Wasps to win 27-0 gets more points than someone who backed Quins to win 34-33?

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
DOK. 18 September, 2017 15:33
I think it's football orientated.

On the mobile site, use "Site navigation", Scroll down to "Quins Links" and the final link is "Prediction League"

Tizz Between The Posts still holding top spot by the single point.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Bedfordshire Boy 02 October, 2017 09:00
Tizz Between The Posts opening a little bit more of a gap over the rest of the pack.
Very disappointed with Stooperman, top of the table last year and now slipped back to mid table mediocrity - an all too familiar story.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
DOK. 02 October, 2017 09:38
Looks like already in the season I'm settling for mid table mediocrity!

I'll send you up some pasties, Stooperman.

They are on a Monarch flight to London.

Too early to write off last season's champion. Form is temporary..class is permanent.

Three on equal points at the top of the table after last nights entertaining game with that man from out west just ahead on goal difference. The first signs of a gap opening up.

Bleddy French. Can never rely on them. Felt sure they wouldn't travel well.

Painful duty updating the table this week but has to be done, Quint Eastwood now top of the pile.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
harlequinade 31 October, 2017 08:20
I notice that the Quins vs Ulster game on Dec !0th has been missed off the latest set of additions to the prediction league fixtures!
Is there something we should know?

edit
Aha It is there but on 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00! Therefore we have missed it.
Can the date be corrected?

My slightly improved form seems to date to my trip to Dorset where I was able to acquire a few pints of draught Tribute.

If only The Stoop would sell London Pride rather than Greene King products, I feel sure crowd performance would improve massively!

Re: Prediction League 2017-18

Quint Eastwood 4 points clear now, all bunched up just behind.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Stooperman 15 December, 2017 23:57
FFS, I predicted that Qins would get absolutely murdered...and I wasn't pessimistic enough!

I shall console myself with the fact that A certain well known supermarket near me is selling Steak & Tribute pies!

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
1908 16 December, 2017 06:47
Didn't know Poundland were selling pies.

Have a good Christmas, Stooperman.

Let's hope the fortunes of Quins will be better in 2018.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Bedfordshire Boy 25 December, 2017 10:23
Around the halfway point and Quint Eastwood has gained a couple more points over the pack following the game at Falcons, the usual suspects all hovering in a bunch behind. This proving a difficult season with so many unpredictable performances from Quins.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Bedfordshire Boy 29 December, 2017 22:34
Step up to the mark chaps, a few predictors short, running out of time.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18

Still short of a full house of predictions, particularly difficult this week I think.

Don`t forget your predictions for this week.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18

Re: Prediction League 2017-18

Unsurprisingly, not a single point scored by any player this week.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Bedfordshire Boy 03 May, 2018 18:39
Quint Eastwood and Quaking Quin have been neck and neck at the head of the table for most of the season and couldn`t be closer with one game to go.Just need to be wary of Stooperman making a late charge. Very very difficult to second guess the result this week, how many points are Quins going to lose by or are they going to surprise us all by recording a win?

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Stooperman 03 May, 2018 19:59
Think I've left it a bit too late TBH. Tricky one to call this week!

Thanks to BB for running it again.

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Bedfordshire Boy 05 May, 2018 22:22
Many congratulations to Quint Eastwood who held on take first place in this seasons prediction league. Unlike the premiership there is no play off competition so it is all over for Quaking Quin, Stooperman and halequinade (and the rest of us in the chasing pack).

Re: Prediction League 2017-18
Stooperman 06 May, 2018 02:01
Well played Quint Eastwood, many congratulations. You were out there in front for most of the season and stayed strong.

Now comes the tricky bit...defending your title!

Can I suggest that next season we also run a pool on the Superbru prediction game site? The reason I don't take part in the one here is that I will often forget to do predictions. However, on Superbru you get reminders when picks are due. It's a similar sort of system where you predict the winner & points difference. However, it covers all games (not just Quins) so I find it's more fun that way. Plus they run games for all major competitions (ERCC, T14, P14, Super Rugby, Internationals, 6 Nations etc).
