Trouble brewing between players & the PRL

Players are becoming increasingly outspoken about the idea of extending the domestic season. Mike Brown spoke about it in the run up to his record appearance last week, Billy Vunipola spoke about it in an interview in (I believe) The Times, and now Joe Marler's come out against it in an article in the Mail. He has gone further than others in confirming that players have been discussing some form of action.

I agree that the season structure should be looked at, but the idea of playing the domestic season from September through to June is crazy. An international would be playing pretty much all year round, with only a one month break after the summer tour before the season re-starts. Given that players need 4 to 6 weeks as a pre-season to look after conditioning, integrating new players/systems, etc, there's no break. Yes, players are paid handsomely, but they are not robots. They need to be given a chance to have a break, recuperate after the end of a season, have a holiday with the family, etc.
