To be fair we haven't plumbed the depths of last season yet, despite some rotten elements to our game.

If argue that Irish was pretty close, especially given that they've gone on to look so poor against everyone else.

What I can't work is how did everybody else work out how to beat Irish...and we didn't??

We were far worse last season on a number of occasions - first halves against Wasps and Newcastle are the two that really stick in the mind but there were a few more. I didn't think we were anything like that bad against Irish and that they actually played very well.

Not looking forward to next week. The conclusion I've come to is that there is something wrong with our coaching. We are running into brick walls and getting hurt. Having 22/2 players injured is too many to survive in this league. Having watched Newcastle play yesterday, it doesn't have to be that way. We need a new style of play !

Yeah could be that l, or it’s just luck and a bit of experience. Guess we’lol find out.

Irish have not played with the same intensity since. Much like Saints have not played with the same lack of intensity they showed on the opening day.

Want expecting much yesterday, would have been happy with LBP that we where so close to getting until a decision reversed
All in all thought we played well yesterday, Morris looked excellent, and Roberts had a good game
I'll be very surprised if the Wardy incident doesn't get looked at seemed far more obvious that Sincks,
As for next Friday, aren't they all must wins now

Re: Next Friday night??
seequin 01 October, 2017 07:59
A good start would be to not concede more than 30 points. It is very difficult to win any game if you let the opposition rack up 30 plus scores.

Jk,s answer to this will be to beast the back side out of the team this week more than he usually does, some of you on here will say good that's what they need,,, WRONG,,,, this is why we are getting so many injuries, the players are going into games with niggling injuries and totally jaded from the severe over training physically,,,,training during the week should be working on skill sets not being dogged to death with pointless physical drills, it will be the same this Friday, rest is just as important as training, working them like zombies will make them play like zombies

Good inside information, do you attend all of the training exercises?

Perhaps we should be doing this in pre season?? Personally although we have a lot of raw talent in our squad, I've thought for a few years now that we just arent tough or physical enough.

Re: Next Friday night??
Quinten Poulsen 01 October, 2017 11:07
JK will ease off on the physical load for the players this week and will concentrate training on basic ball skills. They will also have apple pie for dessert on Tuesday and Thursday.

Learn the basics - now that would be a start.
If we can't do the basics, we are going nowhere.
Looking like a bottom half finish this season - best get used to it now (Sm45)

I'm sure JK has a plan for Friday - whether it's any good or others follow his instructions / leadership is a totally different story!!

I don't even understand what that phrase means. We'd be justified pulling another bloodgate?

Re: Next Friday night??
Harleys Evil Step Mum 01 October, 2017 18:17
Don't mean that, sorry if that how it sounds.....I would take a 3-0 victory.....keep it tight, make no mistakes, play percentage rugby from minute 1.....just WIN IT!!

Ah - now that I'm all in favour of. I think it was the "ALL COSTS" jarred a bit. smiling smiley

I know someone who swears there's a conspiracy among certain refs to make sure decisions go against Quins and to do all they can to make sure Quins lose.

Or maybe I don't.

I guess neither of us can do much to prove our claims...

Never mind the apple pie. Try saffron cake...warm...with clotted cream. And then a half (don't spoil them too much) of Tribute. Sale might as well not turn up on Friday.

mmmmmmmm!!

I've been drinking Tribute this last week on a short sojourn to Constantine Bay. Very acceptable!

On an entirely superficial level, everyone else had the benefit of seeing their style of play. We didn't as we were their first game!

I am pleased to report that Tribute & Betty Stoggs are both now being exported...found some as far east as Dorset the other week!

I am not a great fan of bottled beers usually as they tend to be over fizzy and just seem to taste different, but the Tribute in a bottle works very well!

This was on tap!!! Obviously the ancient smuggling routes along the south coast are being resurrected, and barrels of cornish beer are being landed at Lulworth Cove by night!

Trib is served all over the place. Travels well.

Stoggs not so prevalent outside the SW, but when I've had it as a guest ale it's been excellent too.

Yeah I thought that Jamaica Inn place looked quite busy as we went past.....

Unfortunately The Constantine Bay Surf Stores didnt seem to have any beers on draught strangely..

Would it have been a good idea to set up a pre-season friendly with Irish to get a look at what they had?

Oh, hold on...
