He is/was a quality coach and there will always be differing versions of what happened at RWC 07, but cannot be denied is how good he was for Bath and worthy of taking over from the lunatic called Robinson.

Quins are at there best when the play the type of rugby that Ashton preaches.

Interesting to read his comment that once players enter the field they have to work it out for themselves.....have always felt this as coaches can only do so much. Also his point that in 07 some players disagreed on the freedom route and wanted more structured approach. I wish he would have named them.

From memory of that squad my guess would be the Leicester mob and fly halves as they dictate the style of game more than anyone.

Have read before about Jonny wanting to be told what to do rather than heads up so would think he had a big say.

It was almost all the old stagers, so include Gommers, Dallaglio, Easter in the list of people who wanted the coaches to do some prep work for the games.
