Well, if the above articles are correct, JK acted in absolutely the right way. It might have cost us a bit of money, but it will pay dividends with a happier and more disciplined squad in the long term.

Well done JK.

QP, the man who could pick a fight in a phone box!

You see what happened is that more information became available, & having read the extent of Yarde's misdemeanours, & the fact that the squad had helped to shape and agree on a code of conduct, it became apparent to me that my previous stance was wrong. As I am a mature and balanced individual, I was able to change my opinion once I had access to more information.

You should try it sometime QP.

Hello interloper here

Interesting article, if 100% true of course.

From a neutral point of view it would interesting to hear Yarde's side of the story. Turning up late for matches isn't a good look, but it seems like something is missing in the Times story for that to escalate to "let's gets rid". Clearly something came to a head for him to be dropped for your match against us two weeks ago.

Ego may have played a part in not wanting to take part in A league match (even the great Paul Scholes refused to play for Man United in a reserves match - to use an example from football).

As Quins side of the story is out in the open, that's the narrative (to use a wanky word) that's going to stick until this all blows over/ends with transfer.

Stooperman, come one - that bit about monumental cock up was something you made up in your own mind with no evidence to support it! Plus I'd assumed you'd read the links that had already been posted before your comment, which made it quite clear that Marland had a track record of missing training.

Need to hear Yarde's side of the story before coming to9 final judgement but sounds to me like JK has done completely the right thing. It's a real shame this has happened now when he's been playing some of his best rugby for us. Attitude on the pitch seemed much better to me this season, bar one occasion when he allowed a player to run the ball under the posts because he didn't want to chase for another 5m.

Anyone, shame for Yarde, but seemingly of his own making. Leaves us exposed if Walker is injured or Visser called up, but a chance for Alofa to play more, and we also have Morris and Chisholm, with academy prospects to hopefully step up next year.

It is interesting to hear that JK felt discipline was such as issue that he imposed his own structure rather than one the players drew up and signed up to. Slightly disappointing he felt the need to do that but good on him for doing it.

Now he's stood up to the senior players, he just needs to stand up to Easter! (joking)

Don't try to take the high ground now, QP. YOu didn't disagree with me, or politely enquire what had made me change my mind or whether I had noticed that my two posts were inconsistent. I'm fully aware that I had changed my mind, as I said its what people do when new eveidence comes to light.

Instead you posted a sarcy little emoji. And then when I explained why I had changed my mind, you posted a silly little comment about previous links. When I pointed out that there was a preponderance of evidence that did not support your snide assertion, you fell back on whining about how I respond to criticiem.

I've never met you in real life, but perhaps it would be a good idea so that we could have a pint and try to discover exactly why we clash so much on these boards. It seems to me you spend an awful lot of time picking people up on things and posting corrections to things people say which you don't agree with. It annoys the hell out of me, but I'm sure that in real life its said with an ironic wink or a playful grin.

So, although I'm aware that you don't attend many games these days, the offer still stands. Lets have a beer and resolve our differences rather than bore the good folk of these boards yet again.

Regardless of the reasons no point hanging onto a player who doesn't want to be here .

He's always been a good 'open field' player but sadly the AVP gives wingers less and less space , and his defence is sometimes questionable --he is prone to throwing his arms out and looking at others .

His track record for England is Ok , but recently EJ has said his lack of scoring is the main reason he's not with England and so this is why I don't get the move to Sale , if he is determined to get another England call up

They have good wingers in McGuigan and Solomona and back up from Charnley and Addison so is he really just going as International cover and hope one of them gets injured ?

SD says he is embarking on recruiting International class players , JK has been keen to lose British Internationals as he says it disrupts the season when the Ai's and 6N 's are on .. interesting times

Wish you well Marland up't'north..

It's a massive assumption that he was fine before this season, because everything that's been written so far, including Eddie Jones' comments last season, suggest he's had issues for a while.

Marland Yarde is a management challenge.

I have absolutely no first hand evidence for this assertion, but I believe and assert it nonetheless. It’s written all over the man. In this respect a greater contrast with Ugo Monye is difficult to imagine.

When he shows up, he’s fantastic. When he’s doing his surly superstar turn, we’re better off without him.

I wish him well, but I’m not convinced Sale will have any more luck with him than we have had.

I find this all a bit odd really. Until this season I've always had the impression he's been rather aloof and doing us a favour by playing - with the odd flash of brilliance - but this season he looked to have been more settled and aggressive as a player. Then this...

Re: Yarde off to Sale
Quins4life 01 November, 2017 22:15
Robshaw has come out and backed Kingston over the decision. Seems like he may have irritated more than just the coaching staff.

"The injury crisis that England face on the wing after Jonny May was ruled out of immediate contention will not be easily resolved by summoning Marland Yarde after the former Harlequins’ wing was criticised by his recent club team-mate, Chris Robshaw, for letting down the club following his transfer to Sale Sharks. Harlequins’ patience with Yarde ran out after a string of time-keeping issues finally led to him being dropped for the match against Wasps triggering the switch of clubs.

As far as Robshaw is concerned, there is no regret at Yarde’s departure.

“Marland has run out of lives and as a club we are going to be in a better place now,” said Robshaw. “I am disappointed in him. It's a massive shame for the club because he's a talented player but [director of rugby] John [Kingston] has made a great stance.”

Yarde is one of the possible replacements for May who is expected to miss the opening game of the Old Mutual Wealth series after damaging a hamstring in training on Tuesday. Yarde has been in and out of the England squad over the past couple of years but was the starting wing in both Tests against Argentina in the summer and has a career total of eight tries in 13 appearances. However this latest indiscretion and the mood among the Harlequins players are sure to count against him."

Re: Yarde off to Sale
Jammy Git 02 November, 2017 00:20
From ESPN:

Quote:
For such a senior player to make his thoughts public, combined with the unusually critical tone of Robshaw's comments, reflects the extent of Yarde's fall from grace at Harlequins and it must now be seen whether Jones shares an equally dim view of conduct that was first regarded as problematic at Twickenham Stoop three seasons ago.

So no, not just this season.

Absolutely, but it's more effort for your run of the mill forum user. As above, only a selection of people know how to press Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V...
