WOW....that was a first...
Harleys Evil Step Mum 28 October, 2017 20:13
When JK was shown on the big screen towards the end there was definitely booing.....Not from me I would add, not my style.......but nonetheless must have been uncomfortable for him!

Re: WOW....that was a first...
Hellequin 28 October, 2017 20:27
I think the booing was for a contentious decision from the ref rather than towards JK just coincidental timing.

A group in the south stand did try to start a Kingston out chant near the end it the 1st half but didn't get very far.

Rugby fans and their relationship with manager/DOR /Coaches are different to football fans.

Rugby fans are unlikely to turn on coaches in the same way because there isn't the same media concentration on coaches being blamed for performances as there is for football.

Re: WOW....that was a first...
Robertquin 28 October, 2017 20:40
I thought the booing was for the try - which (from my seat) looked very slightly short of the line.

Re: WOW....that was a first...
DazzaS 28 October, 2017 20:55
In south stand near end when jk was shown the people behind trying to chant "kingston out" did boo which was uncalled for.

Yes our defence is sloppy. Yes our discipline is poor. We have recruited inexperienced coaches from within such as Easter and Evans. We keep hold of ex players for different jobs such as skinner and williams. Money is obviously tight. JK is doing best he can. I am thinking if issues may lie at executive level.

Lots of firsts at the end of the game.

Booing only started when JK came down from the West Stand and was shown on the big screen going into the player area.

For the first time I can remember, JK stood very close to the end of the player tunnel as they came off the pitch.

Wow, because (1) First time I remember JK shaking hands with every player as they emerged. (2) No player appeared to make direct eye contact with JK but instead wheeled away to form their own pep-talk circle - without JK or any of the coaches. Compare and contrast with the adjacent Wuzz circle.

JK saying goodbye to the players? - I doubt it.

Something going on behind the scenes....... ?

We sit in Sth Stand and I believe that the booing had nothing to do with JK on big screen, but JP Doyle's decision to allow the try. My son thought the booing was aimed at the players.
I think there's a lot of wishful thinking going on here about JK out. I really do not think the powers that be will get rid of him during the season and, after a win today? Who would take his place? Would it be an appointment from within? Could it be Minty? We can speculate all we like, but JK will still be here at the end of the season.
I've posted elsewhere that I was a bit miserable today. I always look forward to watching Quins, but probably because of tiredness after a horrendous journey home from France last night, I could not get enthusiastic about today. Even after seeing 76 points & 11 tries, I had no enthusiasm. Each home game for me involves a journey by car from Kent & even more hassle trying to park somewhere without being held to ransom by the RFU(parking at Rosebine).
Anyhow I saw JK talking with James Horwill before players got in their huddle afterwards. Should we read anything into that? I'm not a great fan of JK, but I think he's done the right thing with Yarde and said go if you want. As others have posted on another thread, it is not just JK. What about the whole myriad of coaches we have? I get the impression there are one or two at the club who have got things cushy.
It would appear the Yarde thing is all about contracts. A Scottish international we chatted with today (NOT The Viss) said it was the case with Viss himself. He's taken it on the chin and got his head down. Perhaps that's what Yarde should have done!
Anyway I feel better now I've got a couple of things off my chest!
Will be at the Stoop again soon. Why? Because we support the team through thick & Thin.
Finally, please, please do not succumb to the football mentality and expect a win every game and then demand the head of the coach after every loss(or close win). There are lots of things that need resolving, but we don't have a magic wand like SOOTY!

I sit in the South Stand and the booing was definitely due to the ref rather than JK.

Btw I think we’d be a better club without JK in charge but I would never boo him at a game and anyone who does is an idiot.

The South Stand appeared to boo a couple of conversions kicks as well. This is simply unacceptable behaviur, we don't want the Stoop associated with this kind of idiotic behaviour.

Then they should go watch football, or shout swear words at school football or buy a silly dog with just teeth and a bum. But they aren’t welcome at the Stoop.

Not promoting booing, but if people feel that strongly, what other opportunity to they have to show their annoyance/frustration in a way that can be heard by the powers that be? Last time I looked we lived in a democracy.

Absolutely people have the right to do it.

They've paid their money and so have a right to express their feelings towards performances however they want (within legal reason of course).

I just think it's a very silly way to try and 'help' the club. There's loads of ways to express discontent these days without booing the team (which is how it looks whoever it's aimed at) and match day is our one chance, as fans, to try and play our part (minimal as it may be) in helping the team.

I just think booing creates a divide between the crowd and the team, and there's very few times that can be constructive.

Indeed.

And doesn't negate the right of others to tell the boo-ers what they think of them.

My nose is nowhere near toffee. I know it's not normal at the Stoop, but I couldn't pick a share portfolio out of a line-up (that's a joke, imagine there's a smiley)

As I've mentioned before, Ive watched football all my life until 5 years ago when I couldn't take it anymore.

Grown men acting like little babies, same in the stands - "normal" lads who decide it's ok to shout and scream abuse in front of their kids, teaching them never to respect authority.

It's not how I was brought up - and I liked the idea of the rugby values that my mate told me about when he first took me to the Stoop.

The last thing the sport needs is people abusing refs, players acting up on the pitch -- or fans chanting against the team, the management or the club during games - otherwise I may as well go back to football.

If there was some big scandal or we got bought by Donald Trump, I could totally understand it - just like I get why Man U fans were upset etc.

But just because we're having another average season? Nah. It's not right.

Hang on a minute, Rugby has always prided itself on showing respect and sportsmanship
You can knock ten bells out of someone on the pitch and shake his hand at the end of the game, speak well to the officials, etc

If all this so called bad feeling is directed towards JK ( think boos aimed at big screen and decision anyway) does anyone think it may effect the team as well?

A five point game and home support booing?
And remember back to some of the absolute humpings we had the supporters still didn’t stoop so low as to Boo those on the pitch.

If we have no idea who the boos where directed at, do you think they know?

Yeah very sporting

I think we need to take a bit of a step back here. A little bit of booing has escalated to football-like on and off the field behaviour. I'm pretty sure it won't get to that.

I was in the South Stand on Saturday and did think the booing was of a decision, not directed at JK. Didn't really hear anything more.

I find the woman behind me shouting 'Come On Quuuuuiiiiins' at the top of her voice annoying, not least because she does it at totally inappropriate time (last Saturday's first one came as Worcester kicked to touch from a penalty!). But that's her right.

I really don't think a bit of booing is anything to get all upset about. And I certainly didn't hear anyone booing the kickers. It's something we can deal with 'in house'. If someone booed a kicker next to me I'd certainly tell them they were out of order.

Totally agree with you mate. But the poster above said there was chanting against JK during the game. And hopefully lots of people like you, and me, will tell them to stop if it happens again, like we shush people who talk during the kicks or swear around kids in the stands.

Not a woman shouting support for her team? What is the world coming to? I agree totally with blucherquin. I too was a late convert to Rugby from footy for exactly the same behavioural and ethos reasons.

I suppose if we ever hear that at The Stoop it will mean Chelsa's game has been cancelled at late notice or our rugby fan ethos is so peeved with JK it is worthy of a chant.

Hope its better than the "Comeallwithout...." chant started off on the PA....

You can shout at bad defending all you like -- but I hope if you swear and there are families around then people ask you not to do it.

I sit in the east stand -- and if anyone starts swearing they get asked politely plenty of people ask them not to.
