HARLEQUINS HAS NAMED THE MATCHDAY 23 TO FACE LA ROCHELLE IN ROUND 6 OF THE EUROPEAN RUGBY CHAMPIONS CUP AT STADE MARCEL-DEFLANDRE ON SUNDAY (KICK-OFF 15:15 GMT/16:15 CET).

There are four changes to the starting 15 that overturned a 21-point deficit to defeat Wasps at The Stoop in Round 5.

Marcus Smith starts at fly-half as James Lang moves to inside centre in place of Jamie Roberts, who suffered a concussion last weekend. In the outside backs Ian Prior and Ross Chisholm are named to start following injuries to Mike Brown (eye) and Charlie Walker (ribs).

Amongst the forwards, Mat Luamanu is recalled into the back row after Renaldo Bothma underwent surgery on a broken arm, in an otherwise unchanged pack.

On the bench Joe Marchant and Aaron Morris are named as replacements as they both return from long term injuries.

The main plus from that is Morris and Marchant being back.

I wonder if when we signed Prior we said to him that basically he'll be playing wherever there's a gap due to injuries.

I bet he's praying we don't have a prop-crisis.

I wonder what will happen with Prior. When he signed JK said "Initially" as cover. Useful player, cover SH/FH and now FB. Can kick also. Fair bit of experience and not too old. Decent squad player

Would love you guys to turn over La Rochelle al la us like last weekend, however these guys are quality, and at home exceptionally formidable! I have said on our Message board (Wasps) that La Rochelle play some of the best rugger I have seen this year, they have to power of Toulon in their pomp, yet balance it with the running game of Biarritz and Clermont in their heady days, coupled with an offloading game Toulouse of old would admire! I can only see a French win, but it will be an entertaining game!!!!

This team basically tells me what JK thinks about Stanley. He would rather play a whole raft of players out of position and a few players returning from injury than risk playing him.
Or maybe I am reading it wrong. Maybe Stanley is so valuable that he is being wrapped in cotton wool so that we can unleash him on Premiership teams after the Anglo Welsh is over.

Maybe he's using the game to try out players who might otherwise not be picked, or to give time to those returning from injury. There's only so many places to fill.

Great timing for Marchant and Morris return. Couldnt give a stuff about this game as long as no more injuries.

If Roberts isnt too bad weve got a great looking line up for Prem during 6 Nations - as long as Boyce comes back mid week.

Yeah I think we can safely say that Stanley isn't long for the squad.

And to be honest you can hardly blame JK for that view. Stanley has been categorically terrible pretty much every time he's played so I think it's the right call to avoid playing him, even in a game like this.

There are less convoluted ways of not accommodating Stanley in the team with the available players. Looks like the plan may be to not use Marchant and Morris unless absolutely essential.

Who is playing out of position? Alofa has probably played more games for us at 13 than wing and Lang is clearly a 10/12 who is being set up to be Smith's long term partner at inside centre.

Chis would normally be at FB which would put Alofa on the wing. But basically, are starting with two scrum halfs and two fly halfs

Smith/Lang 10/12 could be the future, 10/13 worked well v Wasps when Smith used Lang as second receiver too. Pace and width. Prior at 15? Really no idea. As Ill be there would prefer Chis as last tackler.

I don't think he is registered - so I guess we hadn't made all of our injury changes after all.

We've got our 6th choice scrum half at full back. Not enough subs to fill the bench.

Not really sure what else you expect us to do really.

Hi - temper your outrage and drama for a moment and say who would you play then? Marchant is on the bench but wont be played because hes not fit, we just need people to fill the slots.

Our season has been very much like our games. Slow and faltering, with a few disasters early on. Then catch up time where we look like we'll turn things around. Some we do, some we don't.

That was a great, spirited performance against a team which - on paper - should have trounced us. I guess Quins forgot to read the script.
