Harlequins Ladies are looking to set the benchmark for women's club rugby. On Saturday 10th March, Harlequins will host rivals Richmond at The Stoop (kick-off 15:00) in what is expected to be the biggest women's club rugby match this country has ever seen. This match is included in a 2017/18 Harlequins membership but Members must claim their ticket at the Ticket Office.

============================================================================

Worth a look-in but unfortunately clashes with ..

Ireland v Scotland, Saturday 2.15pm
France v England, Saturday 4.45pm

They really didn't think this one through why have this clashing with the 6 nations matches.

Maybe would have made more sense to play it on Sunday and have the Kings bar open for the 6nations match afterwards.

Just been added on Facebook Twitter....

Stick around at The Stoop after Harlequins Ladies against Richmond and you can watch England take on France in both the King's Bar and Members' Bar

I suppose they chose this fixture because its a 'derby ' match ,but strange choice on reflection knowing it clashed with the 6N , not sure what the 'record' crowd is they are trying to beat , but I hope they make it .

Anyone know how sales are doing? Genuine question. They've been marketing this as a record for biggest attendance for a women's game with no assocuated men's game I believe, and as far as I could see, it has been marks as something that they have achieved, rathr than hoping to achieve.

Might have got that wrong, and either way I wish them all the best. Makes sense to avoid a weekend when Quins and England fans might be attending other games, just hope they on't lose out due to 6 nations

It was a good close game with only a conversion the difference. No mass walkout at 4.30. I wandered into the members bar to watch the England game which ruined the afternoon but never mind.

Quins won by 2 points. Thought it was a bit of a scrappy disjointed game, lots of turnovers. But a win's a win. Quins started slowly, went 10 -0 down but gradually began to dominate. Richmond were good at the breakdown, their number eight was very good. Quins number 6 was simply awesome both in attack and defence. Sorry don't have names, couldn't get a programme and missed the team announcement

Richmond number 8 is Libby Povey and she did have an excellent game. She is a teacher at Hampton High.

I have struggled, and failed, to get myself interested in this.

Any suggestions?

Its a Quins team that actually does well!!!

They are in the cup semi final on 25th march also.

The 6, Shaunagh Brown is in the England squad but cant break into the team at the moment. I think she is a fire fighter by day.Jess breach is the one to watch. Try machine earlier in the season, called up to england and scored (I think) 8 in her first two tests. Then signed a deal to play sevens for england in the world cup and CW games. In her first tournament in Aus she was second top try scorer.

Quins are now certain of a top 2 finish and a home semi.

Look - if you go into this thinking you're going to see a mirror image of the men's game, then forget it. You will be disappointed by the skill level, conditioning, tactics and execution.

That said, this isn't the men's game. They don't have time to train like the men, so of course they don't have the skills or conditioning or the tactics. Silly boy! (or girl).

Think of it as more like the "A" team. (No not the John 'Hannibal' Smith variety), and you'll enjoy it. It's the fact the defences aren't so impenetrable, you don't know how far the kick for touch will go, the fact the tackle may be made or avoided completely that makes it more interesting. (and actually it IS starting to sound like the men's team!) smiling smiley

I enjoyed the game, the close score kept interest right up to the end and I'll try and get to see a few more matches.

The last women's game I watched was, I think, the England v Wales about 8 - 10 (?) years ago. That was at The Stoop.

It's come on immensely since then. The international games now are very high standard. It doesn't cost season ticket holders anything so you have nothing to lose but a couple of hours one afternoon.
