Chris Sheasby's Quins Eye Patch

Hello. I was at the England/Ireland legends game last night and was impressed by how good shape some of the older England players were in, notably a newly slimline Jason Leonard and Chris Sheasby. I attempted to explain to some younger colleagues today about Sheasby's appearance on an episode of Rugby Special in the early 90s when he wore a Harlequins eye patch to protect an injury he'd picked up the previous day. Despite their blank stares (some had never heard of him!) I tried finding a clip on You Tube or even a screen grab on Google to show them but my searches came to nothing. Did I make this up ? I'm pretty sure I saw it. Does anyone have any photographic evidence ? Is the eye patch still in existence ??

It certainly existed. I remember it.

I had a look, but I couldn't find a piccie either. You could try the London Irish or Wasps boards, perhaps someone there knows.

Bumped into this in my travels, and thought I'd share

Sheasby leaving was a great blow to the club. He fell out with those idiots Brooke and Gallagher who had no idea what they were doing running the team. That was the year Mark Evans first joined as CEO, but despite all Chris's pleas, Evans refused to overturn the decision to sack him, so Chris went to London Irish. Sheasby was like Minty, cut him and he'd bleed French Grey, Magenta, Chocolate Brown, Light Blue.

Sheasby was a great player, very athletic for a number 8. Last time I saw him he still looked in great shape.Being behind Dallaglio in the England pecking order must have deprived him of a fair few caps.

Possibly, but he was pushing 30 when dallaglio first got capped, before which he had picked up a handful of sub appearances. his only starts were against Argentina and Italy.

Quins legend no doubt.

He was in the England 7's with Dallaglio, so I may be overlooking his age.

Perhaps it was that Deano was the type of 8 that England were picking at the time. A touch less "athletic" than Sheasby and Dallaglio!
