Just a fun hypothetical exercise, but imagine:

13 December 2008: a slight knock-on from Jordan Turner-Hall in the dying seconds of Harlequins' home game against Stade Franšais is spotted by Nigel Owens, and Quins lose. A rejuvenated Stade Franšais beat the Scarlets away and qualify as the top seeds from Pool 4, while Harlequins fail to qualify as one of the best runners up.

We never play Leinster at home and Bloodgate never happens. Dean Richards stays on for a couple more seasons and Conor o'Shea never joins. A different DoR takes over in, say, 2012, and the whole path of Harlequins changes. John Kingston stays on as forwards coach.

On such small decisions can a decade of rugby be decided...
