...as the Player Development Manager

Watching the Army Navy game on TV this morning , when interviewing the winning coach at the end he announced that after being involved with Army Rugby for 30 years , he was leaving the Army , and moving to the Stoop next season as PDM

This is the role where the Players are encouraged to develop careers and interests for life after Rugby , we used to have a chap called Alun Davies but he must have moved on .

In any event a winning coach and some Army discipline muct be a plus

Im sure thats the main thrust of the role , but when the other guy did a Quinnsa event he said he was also involved in the lifestyles of the younger players in particular , and working with the nutrition and strength and conditioning guys to maximise the opportunities whilst at the Club as well , he made a point about it being an ' on and off the pitch role '.

Ive just checked and Alun Davies left in Nov 17 .

The military are pretty good at helping you find other jobs once you leave, certainly helped me out when I got medically discharged.

Does this mean Danny Care can't play on his PlayStation for a living when he retires?

The role is a lot more involved than just finding jobs, its also helping the established players gain qualifications to assist life after rugb and also to assist in transition too not playing. It is one of the areas a lot struggle with just like members of the forces who leave.
