Not sure how true this is, just read on the Newcastle site that Jim Hamilton has said it is between Quins and Falcons for him. We don't need another winger do we??

2 years left on his contract, according to Toulon RC.
And he's asked the club for a contract extension apparently!!

Thought I read somewhere he wanted a crack at going to the World Cup.

We're not good enough to say we don't need someone of his calibre. And he's been playing most of the season at 15. I'd take him all day long.

Cant imagine any coach turning down the opportunity to have someone of Ashtons ability in his team .

When he was interviewed at the BaBaas game he effectively said "come and get me".

Jones said he couldn't think about it until he was eligible.

I'd take Ashton for a season -- assuming he'd lower his wage to come back for 12 months and roll the dice for a spot on the plane to Japan. If he makes it into the England squad you'd still get a few key performances that could change a season.

That said, if we're as bad as last year, he'd make no difference because we create nothing.

And with Robshaw looking like he needs time away from rugby to rediscover his mojo I'm a little anxious...

I would take him, of course. Problem is a) do we have the money/space b)if we do have the money are there other areas that we are more needy.

Yes that too.

We need a 2 (Elia may well be the man but hes young so we need someone experience for 2 seasons)

We need a second row - unless Merrick is going to get back to his young form

We need a 9. I mean we really do.

Wing actually could be good for us this year - Earle, Visser, Walker, Alofa, Ibitoye...

Pretty much my thinking also. Even if he came in to cover FB we have Brown, R Chisholm, Morris. Even Swiel.

Ashton would be a great addition for pretty much any team in the premiership. Bet hell end up at Man Bristol bears though.

Don’t need another mercenary with only his best interests at heart, I’d rather give Ibitoye game time and let him develop his game to more than just speed.

Also echo the point above about our inability to create space and deliver the final pass, as we saw with Yarde. But I also concede that Ashton isn’t as lazy as Yarde and will generate his own scoring opportunities.

Yes, Ashton is a fantastically talented player. But I don't think he'd add much to our "team". He is very different to any of our other wings. I'd say concentrate on lock and 9 frankly.

I think when other overseas players have been mooted in the press, the deal is if you have to buy out their contract then it comes under the salary cap.

I think Ashton is an energy sapper. Don't like the man much.

What makes you say that out of interest? If he was, Im surprised he lasted so long at sarries.

Ashton at 15? No thanks.

It's where he started in Union and where he's shone for Toulon. I might think he's a bit flawed for international rugby but he's better than the vast majority of our options and it's not even close.

Just an impression formed watching interviews with him and teammates and managers and that ashsplat and that Tuilangi hair pulling, nothing concrete...

Must say I loved to hate him when he played for Sarries - but thats his playing persona and its good to have players like that.

I assumed he was actually like that but having heard him on the pod with Ugo and on tv for BaBaas, he seems to be a really good lad.

There's a lot more to Ibitoye's game than speed. He's not even that quick for a winger!

His defence and decision making let him down. Hopefully he can sort them out as he'll be world class if he does.

I truly hate Ashton as a rugby player , as for the " splash " when scoring tries , pathetic, He still doesn't tackle, or go looking for the ball, unless someone else has done the hard work for him first.

I really don't see what all the hype is about, If he came to Quins I'd stop going to
games until he'd moved on for more money. But then again, he'll never get in an England
shirt again, so no need for him to come back to the Premiership.

He doesn't go looking for the ball? What? The work he does off the ball in attack is pretty much the core reason why he's been such a success.

A try celebration upsetting you that much says more about you than him, as would refusing to go to matches simply because a high quality player is playing for us.

Looking for the ball is the literal definition of what he does.

If you actually hate him then maybe not coming to Quins would be a bonus for all of us - thats just silly.

I think were agreeing Rodney. My comments say that he needs to develop the rest of his game. One worldie every 7 or 8 games doesnt make you a world beater. Give him game time and 1-1 coaching and hell do well. Maybe Ugo can do that for him?

"Give Ibitoye game time and let him develop his game to more than just speed." is pretty unequivocal - it means that currently his game is just speed.

Ashton isn't such a @#$%& as everyone think he is. The ash splash really pissos my off as much as anyone. And he can't tackle,we he doesn't get into the England team. As a club player he',Dr a brilliant finisher. A @#$%& on the splash but I know is actually a good bloke. A seriously excellent winger

IIRC didn't he shout 'miss it!' just as Nick Evans was taking a kick at goal at Allianz that caused handbags? Not as pathetic as pulling someone's hair but still stupid.
