Team For the 3rd Test
Banstead Quin (IP Logged)

No point dwelling on another error ridden performance with no control or focus so straight into the next one. I’d go with:-

15. Mike Brown
14. Johnny May
13. Elliot Daly
12. Henry Slade
11. Denny Solomona
10. Danny Cipriani
9. Dan Robson
8. Nathan Hughes
7. Sam Symonds
6. Chris Robshaw
5. Nick Isiekwe
4. Joe Launchbury (C)
3. Harry Williams
2. Luke Cowan Dickie
1. Joe Marler

It’s hungry, will be more dynamic and with pride only to play for, why not.

Curry has looked ok to me.... I'd give him game time so he knows he belongs at this level.. On form, I think we'll need him next year. I

Based on the players who to me, look either injured/knackered/not playing well and then those who I think deserve a chance....

Marler
Cowan Dickie
Williams
Isiekwe
Launchberry (capt)
Simmonds
Wilson
Shields (I'm sure he has played 8 in NZ)
Spencer
Cipriani
Solomona
Slade
Daly
May
Brown

Genge
George
Sinck
Hill
Hughes
Ford
Robson
Earle

Its not working as it is so give something different a go then re group for the AIs

As it stands Curry is one of my shoe in players right now but, id like to see Simmonds and Wilson get a run. Curry has done very well but I would just be careful not to overuse him.

Curry looks perfect for us.

Wouldnt play CR again until hes rediscovered his form and interest in the game - looks burned out and disillusioned

Needs someone to replace Mako, and maybe Earle for Solomona, but otherwise, pretty much that...

I would wait and see who stands out this evening against France and fly them to South Africa.

The other Curry twin is captain, Marcus and Gabriel are starting.

Even if you they flew out and did not eventually play, it might send a message to the senior team.

Agree with Cips starting, he has been in great form. Think Robshaw is knackered tbh..

Like Mike Brown, Robshaw always gives 100%. But it's part of management's responsibilities to protect players from themselves. Robshaw could be the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail and he'd still want to play!

He needs a break, certainly, but I think the (dis)interest/disillusion bit is off-key. He's probably upset with his form/fitness, which isn't quite the same thing.

Shame not to see Robson starting with Cipriani and I think Slade is very lucky too.

Missed opportunity on this tour to see what the likes of Robson and Lozowski can do.

If Care was indeed dropped rather than rested, hard to see how Youngs has been any better

^Youngs has been dire. I would have started Robsoin, particularly if you're starting Cipriani, keep club 9 & 10 together who know each others game.

Teflon Youngs. If Care plays badly, everyone remembers it. Youngs gets away with having plenty of bad gams because once a season he plays a blinder.

I'm not saying Care deserved to tour - he was poor in the 6 nations, as were many others. Just think that Youngs should be judged by the same standards

I think its all about giving Youngs game time after his injury but it just highlights the flaws in his game even more. So slow and so safety first. De Klerk has been all over him and he doesnt know how to respond.

The reason Care is treated differently is the old cometh the hour syndrome. He is such a good player and if he doesnt do it every game, hes a let down so gets negative press. Watch them slaughter Cipriani if he has a quiet game tomorrow rather than asking how a maverick, creative fly half looks as average as Ford does in this England setup. Coincidence?

If Cips plays all game...and the bench suggests he should, then getting Spencer on at some point might be revealing.
Having said that, Youngs was pretty quick with the pass last week, certainly for the majority of the first half. His default step was absent then...but why are we still trying to eradicate this with a 70 odd cap SH...?
I agree Care gets treated more harshly Imo but tbh, neither of them have had great games of late but you always look to Care to make the difference..

I note Eddie has got the JK disease.A great weeks training
Not trying Wilson Robson and persisting with Brown on the wing and Daly at 15 seems utterly pointless. All the boys want is to
get on the plane and get home so a win against a confident Bok side seems pretty unlikely to me

Ironically, Brown has probably been probably our best player on this tour. Made a couple of errors but who hasnt out there?

Sorry not getting the Johnny May thing at all. Yes hes scored a couple but not in the game enough for me. Id like to see 5 or 6 good runs every game and really stretching opposition defences similar to (and I hate to say it) Chris Ashton. Tim Visser always looks involved in games even if hes not scoring and I dont see that with May. Thats just an example that we may all understand not comparing the two and I know Visser is Scottish!

Farrell said in the press conference that they want Cipriani to play his natural game....yeah right Fazza!

we just need to get out of there! Has anyone actually enhanced their reputation on this tour? Johnny May perhaps. Performance & selection have been way off. Such a great opportunity to try new blood & we have plenty of it. Had we selected an inexperienced team & lost 3-0 at least you can see how new players react to international away pressure. Jones is losing a lot of support I feel. Too many picked on reputation & not form. Hope Cipriani goes well today, that guy has worked so hard to get another chance!

I am a Cips fan and do agree he has worked hard. It is good that rugby fans can call good form on a player and want to see them in an England team regardless of which club they are from. I think this is why Jones has lost a lot of support...and a quick canvas across these boards bares that out, imo. Rugby fans aren't seeing the right picks.... And these mostly aren't partisan pucks, they are from people who see the form players week in and week out. It makes you wonder what Jones' thinking is because he is at odds with so many. Ex players, fans, media...

I think the biggest criticism is that he has ignored form players but stuck with out of form perceived favourites.
Brown isnt a winger, many agree, but he is still our best fullback and it isn't his fault that the likes of Watson and Daly have not been able to claim his shirt, so he is mostly exempt from anyone not wanting him in the final 23.

I do think Robson deserved a game and I would have picked him along with Spencer for today's game.
Youngs hasn't deserved to start all three, Imo, especially in today's dead rubber.

Curry has been out of his depth for me. Put in a good shift in the first test, bit he made 3 runs for no metres and missed 4 tackles last time. If robshaw had put in that performance at 7 there would be he'll to pay. Not sure why he's getting plaudits. Sure he's young, but he's been massively innefective in a back row which has been completely outplayed. Same with shields - more carrying threat (but not a great deal) and 4 tackles?! Along with getting absolutely smashed back rather embarrassingly.

Agreed that Brown is atm the first choice 15. So whos number 2? First game of Japan 2019, Brown gets a concussion that takes him out for 3 weeks. Is Eddie supposed to then work it out? Or should he try Daly now in what are (in the greater scheme of things) friendlies?

I can actually see the sense of Daly being shepherded by Brown in this series so I think Brown has been worthy of his wing spot... for that reason. Ok, we lost the series, but I don't think the reason lies there
I think you can't moan at Jones for that one...it has largely worked and is recognition that Brown needs cover. If Watson or Nowell had made the tour, maybe you wouldnt need Brown on the wing but that choice wasnt available.

Daly's been really poor as a 15 so that simply hasn't worked.

On Johnny May, I'd say he's been more involved this tour than ever before. He's done a lot of good work in midfield.

Funny how when brown was making 75 metres every game they weren't just 'free' yards running it back from fullback. Saved a couple of tries with excellent defensive decisions too - he's not quick enough for the wing but he makes up for it to an extent in his positioning.

Where the hell were Youngs and Daly for the SA try? Care and brown would have been sweeping.
