Bryce Lawrence?

Over on the 'dark side' they are not happy, neither was 'Pitbull' and MJ by his body language at the end seemed less than content.

Would have been less one sided had the French been able to ref the whole game themselves

Sh*te.

And Johnson played into his hands - the moment there is public crticism of 'them', the wagons are circled around.

And a quick rant about the 6 Nations - what's wrong with officials from the 0ther 4 nations having the odd role in such games? This positive discrimination of third world nations' officals must stop - they are sucking the lifeblood out of something worth watching.

Yes but we lost.... ref was poor, but hoo hummm, funny best game england play and they lose?

What it did show today is selection has been poor last 4 games, england do have the players... may not be world beaters but can at least challenge

Foden take a bow

Ashton, good debut, yes inexperience, but england looked dangerous and Cueto looked good to with right players around him

Pitch was poor, weather was poor, French team was very poor.

And Mr Lawrence was a disaster - picky about the wrong things, unaware of the bigger picture.

Mr Lewis had better be good tomorrow or I might become a conspiracy theorist...

England should and probably did know from the 1st test of the Lions tour that if the tight head turns in when under pressure then Lawrence will penalise him. Brian Moore comments as if he is the world's expert on front row play when he certainly is not, he knows about the hooker's job and that's it I'm afraid.

agreed Eif,

deplorable commentary from Moore who was embarrassing to listen to.

Not one word of credit for Domingo, who has been one of the best players in the tournament.

I disagree as regards the captaincy, i felt we lost alot of nous and a great deal of communication without borths.

Englands back row looked badly off the pace for most of the game, if your going to pick Joe Worsely to tackle, why not pick someone who can tackle, jackal and carry without taking the ball standing still?

He's got his ref cards and now seems determined to referee rather than commentate. It must be very frustrating to the occasional viewer to hear a commentator questioning rather than explaining. One of McLaren's greatest assets was his ability to 'translate,' the onfield activity to the viewers.

Brain Moore is becoming a terrible bore - so he has done a referees course - and doesnt he let us know it at every opportunity.

I used enjoy his pithy comments but now he even makes
E butler sound reasonable.

He was right about three Frenchmen coming in at the side at that line-out though. And about Foden's "dodgy" lineout.

Foden's throw in was forward and was correctly called so. He can take the throw, anywhere from behind where the ball goes off the pitch, but it must go straight or backwards. Looking along the 22, you can see it was forward.

It is a shame that all the talking back to the officials is really creeping into the game. MJ waiting for the ref at the side of the pitch is in keeping with what Arsene Wenger did yesterday. What's it going to change? As said, in the poor commentary, the ideal time to ask the ref for clarification on his decisions is during the game and not after it.

Brian Moore is failing in his job as a commentator. He of all people after his course, should know that the refs word is final. There is no point in him prattling on, trying to justify and correct the refs opinions. As we all know, there are so many illegal things going on, that if a ref has it in his head that one team is the reason, then all the penalties are going to go against them. I don't think I saw Moody talking to the ref at all during the game asking for explanations of what was happening.

That throw-in, 4 minutes from the end, may have been slightly crooked - how can you really tell unless you're right there?

The point is that referees are supposed to ask themselves whether a minor infringement materially affects the game...

What Lawrence did killed England's chances of making a comeback and rescuing a match they did deserve to win. He was pernickety in the extreme and ruined the spectacle, along with England's hopes.

But it's certainly history now - teams have to work harder at understanding arbiters, and could have done with talking to Vickery about his Lions' experience first. He pinged him off the field on that day, without realising (sorry Eif - you must be a front frow expert) that it was the Springbok who was contravening the laws, not PV.

Speaking as an ex-hooker, I can assure you that there is no better position from which to to learn about propping, apart from actually doing it.

Bit like Dorian West then Eif.(apart from being a qualified Ref.) England, British Loins etc but knows nothing about scrummaging, and of course you do.
I do think BM is in danger of boring viewers, but I did not disaagree with many of his comments. The Ref. was a pain IMO.

You would have thought that having done a referee's course that BM should know you have to ref BOTH teams. His insessant pointing out of every French indiscretion whilst ignoring those players in white was tiresome in the extreme/
