Final day of premiership 2pm kick offs
Flinstone Saint 22 February, 2012 17:43
Just seen this on Twitter twatter (c) Rich's Nan

"Premiership Rugby @premrugby
To protect the integrity of the final round of Aviva Premiership matches they will all kick off at 2pm, on 5 May"

Why is a 2pm kick off going to protect the integrity of the final round more than a 3pm kick off?

PS May have an effect on our Saints with Heart walk too?

This is extraordinarily annoying. I'm just hoping it was a typo, as otherwise all the SWH walkers are pushing it to get to the Gardens and have a reasonable break before the game.

The fixtures list on [www.premiershiprugby.com] says 15:00.

I expect its to do with football but also to ensure that if 2 sides are trying to finish 4th or avoid the drop one side does not have an unfair advantage by knowing if they need to score 4 tries before kick off.

Robby - they always planned to kick off at the same time, however the time announced has always been 3pm. This was one of the reasons we chose SWH for that day - we "knew" the time couldn't be changed for TV...

As it will be sunny we could start the walk an hour earlier.
I would certainly be up for that.....once I register that is(Sm85)

Yep we have plenty of daylight, start an hour earlier.

Chris - we could move things back, but getting everyone to Wolverton for 6am doesn't seem too likely, lots of them struggle to make the 7am start.

Plus - there are 54 registered walkers already, they'd have to be informed of the changes to start time and given the option to drop out or change walks. This in turn could affect the sponsorship they've already collected.

That's of course assuming the walk leaders can be there for the earlier time, otherwise there's no point even thinking about it.

These are exactly the sorts of reasons we wanted a fixed kick off time! Oh, and just because it's May doesn't mean it'll be sunny...

I'm sure that most people wouldn't mind starting an hor earlier.. Surely it's not that big a deal.

Smurf,
Why not get one of Mr Connects coaches to take people from FG to the start.
It would cost a little but I will help out with the cost and sponsor it.
I am sure that everyone will muck in as it is a good event. Not sure that anyone would have signed up because of the time more that they wanted to be a part of it.
I shall be travelling the nrmal 150 miles to get there for the start. So locals will have no excuse.
Think positive and it will work!

I'm afraid it doesn't look like a typo. The Wasps official site has already carried the news on there.

Looks like we'll just have to start the walk that bit earlier. We'll all be nodding off in the stands!

Has the SWH walks always been for 3pm kick offs? I'm trying to test my memory.

As I said to Smurf via email, an early start may be a blessing given how warm it can be in May, earlier start, earlier finish.

TF - as far as I can recall, it's always been 3pm or later. Consensus so far seems to be OK for moving the start times, if anyone has any significant reasons why we can't then I'll update all the walkers on the new times.

As it's now confirmed - from Chris W by email as well as the offy and Prem Rugby websites changing the times - we're going for the earlier start times. If anyone has an issue please let me know.
