P G Tips
Hey guys - give him a break: I thought he played well at wing!
I suspect that the real message is that you would prefer him not to give his place up to Brown - fair enough, but Brown actually played well & I can understand Lancaster wanting both in the team: how would you accommodate both?
Nothing against Brown he did ok; I just think out of the two Foden is more dangerous because of his pace. I.e. his gas can get him through half gaps. For example think back to when fodes put that try away against quins at FG; look at the try he scored today. Had that been brown he would potentially have been bundled into touch on both occasions. Not because he is not elusive, or strong enough to fend, but because that yard of pace he is lacking in would give the defender more time and space to bundle him out.
In my opinion Tuilagi is a liability as second five eighth; as odd as this may sound he is easy to defend against. The boy never passes and always takes the ball on too far. If you're not in an area where you can strike with him as a battering ram (within 20metres of the try line) then he becomes in effective and isolated. Great to watch when he's running over de villiers, however because there is no threat of him passing you can commit more defence to bring him down, and slow the ball down etc. Stick him on the wing and use him how Ben Cohen was used and he'll be effective; either that or he needs to learn how to pass!
