Strange statistics

Well, Saints aren't playing and new signings/current squad/who should we sign have all been discussed at length (to put it politely). So, forced to browse the AP league table I couldn’t help noticing some strange statistics. Both Tigers and Quins have had unusual seasons when it comes to tries and points scored, as traditionally they are among the best on both scores. Quins are almost identical to London Irish on both tries (36/37) and points (372/371), but their position in the table reflects that. Tigers, however, are 5th despite having scored only 26 tries and 367 points. To put that in context, that is second bottom in tries scored (LW close behind with 25) and by some margin (Irish 37, Newcastle 45). Total points similarly but at least well ahead of LW (189) and closer to Irish (371) and Newcastle (370). Defensively they are merely on a par with the other top 6 clubs, so they must be setting a record for the number of wins by the smallest margins. Obviously Tuilagi has been badly missed, but otherwise they have a decent set of backs and good ball from a dominant pack. Quins similarly, although they have been losing games as a result of their poor point-scoring despite having a strong settled squad (although I might have to be corrected on that). So what’s been going on?
