New Shirt?
Saint Jericho 18 April, 2015 16:11
Not sure whether or not I dreamed this but I seem to recall that earlier in the season we unveiled a new shirt which we were going to wear in a match as a one off. If I remember correctly it was white and claret? Perhaps for help for heroes?

As we haven't worn it yet I was wondering if we would be wearing this Saturday against Saracens?

Can anyone help me out here? Or was this just a figment of my imagination?

No, your memory's right. There's a one-off shirt being worn next week.

Ah thank you Matthew. Started to convince myself I'd dreamed it. My dreams are usually that boring ;-)

IMO this gives what should be a HOME game even more of an "Away" feel (Sm147)

Just looked again at the story then at the shop which is selling Hero kit RED shorts (having presumably sold out of the shirts). Surely we are not playing in maroon(ish)shirts and red shorts? Call the fashion police now!

I'm having non-positive feelings about this one, what with the venue, the shirts, our form... not to mention the opposition!

All cross-able fingers are crossed.

if my memory serves me right - last time we wore a " one off shirt " it was against Glaws or was it Irish in a cup final and we got hammered.

Not at all happy .

Are you thinking of that awful burgundy training shirt we ended up wearing against Oirish?

Don't mess with the team colours.

I think the Club has got this badly wrong.

There is a reason we've been green, black and gold for over a century. We don't have to abandon the team colours to support a worthy charity...

*I could agree with you - but then we'd both be wrong...*

Does it matter what colour the shirts are? Jeez! Saints wear lime green for away matches (most of the time) and they haven't done too badly. It's surely not the shirt, it's who's wearing it that matters.

Does seem a strange move. There will be loads of additional Potentially season ticket holder, Saintly ones at the game. We need to generate as much sound as possible and I bet it wont happen as some may not be sure which team to shout for, after all sarries would normally lay in red so assume they will be in white.

I have one of these shirts in the cupboard, I wonder if it will be a collectors item in a weeks time or just another gardening garment.

Offers accepted !

I don’t think its a particularly nasty shirt... but do be aware the last non sarries shirt I saw during a rugby match was soo orange it might have been burned into the back of my retina and therefore clouding my judgement

I'm not sure exactly how stupid someone would have to be to not realise which team is the one they are supporting, but presumably they'd be too thick to find their way to the match anyway.

Plenty of teams have worn one-off shirts in recent seasons, and maybe the nature if the charity it is supporting might instil an extra bit of grit in the men wearing it.

But then I tend to look on the bright side of things rather than continually seeking out ways of slamming the club.

Or maybe they're trialling the new home kit we'll be wearing when we play at MK permanently.

Quins do it every year for their big game, don't see a problem with it personally. Managed to get one for the boy off eBay and it actually looks decent (imo), wish I had got one for myself.
