Team for Tigers

After the distraction of England we're back to the important rugby this weekend. I would, if fit, have all our returning internationals starting. Not sure whether we have any absentees but I would go with a team along the lines of:
15 Tuala
14 Fodes
13 Tuitavake
12 Mallinder
11 North
10 Myler
9 Groom
8 Picamoles
7 Harrison
6 Woody
5 Day
4 Lawes
3 Brookes
2 Hartley
1 A waller

Bench: Haywood, E Waller, Hill, Api, Gibson, Dicko, Stephenson, Estelles/Ken

Thoughts?

Nah. England lads on the bench as finishers. 😀

Luther may start, bench at the very least. JJ and Paterson on bench. Too early for Stevo.2 from Ace, Ken and Ben.

There's a case for not starting one or two of the 6Nats guys. But George and Louis have to start. Woody has played relatively little. Courts was close to some people's Player of the Tournament. That leaves Dylan. It would be tough on Mikey but surely the captain of the 6Nats champs has a strong case.

Would expect the coach to select Burrell to start ahead of Tuitavaki and possibly Foden at 15 with KP on the wing and Tuala on the bench - no risks at all against Tigers.

Maybe Api and Daisy to start with Long arm coming on.
Tom Stephenson I should say is too soon.
Luther stands a chance
Ben at Full back with George and Ken on the wings.
Maybe Mafu in contention?
Tom, Louis and T

Gibson to start against Tigers for me. I've said before he has been on the right side of extremely fired up for previous derby games. Probably at the expense of Harrison who I'd use as an impact sub for this one (Wood and Picamoles to be my other starters in the back row).

Hopefully Tigers' sterling defensive efforts winning yesterday's Anglo-Welsh final will give us a slight advantage too. Only 6 days' rest and some tired bodies out there. On that vein I'd even be tempted to give Courtney the week off because he's played a lot of rugby these past weeks.

Cant see why you would start Mikey ahead of Dylan. Other than that, happy with the team.

I agree with you Walks11, although I'd have Tei on in place of Gibson. I think the back row has more balance with him.

I can see Woody or Louis going off in the 2nd half and a fresh Gibson coming on to be the way forward.

My bench would be:

Dylan, Ethan, Hill, Api, Gibson, Dickson, Harry & Ken.

What Mobbs said save that Dylan in at 2. How can you not have the England captain starting at home in a derby vs Tigers? Dylan as a hooker and his influence on the pitch is massive for Saints

We can remember what happened to Dylan when he was one of the "finishers" last time he played for Saints.

Like England, the Saints back row is missing a proper no 7. Throughout the 6N the England back row have not had a ruck turnover specialist, out played by both the Wales and Ireland guys. Ireland were fortunate that Heaslip was injured, struggled on the last Lions tour and is long past his best.
