May take a while to get up to speed - he's barely played a game in the last two years from what I can gather

If that 's true why have we signed him?

This is a bit like “will take Gaffney a while to make a difference, will take 2 years to rebuild”
Load of nonsense. He’s fit as a butchers dog and an elite world level back rower, much higher level than anyone we have in that position and across the league.
He walks into the team and is man of the match on a regular basis starting in 2 weeks or whenever it is.

I'll have a pint of what he's drinking!

I wish I could rummage up the enthusiasm people have on here for a bloke, who whilst was once very good, has not played since September.
My innate curiosity asks a simple question - why has he not played? I believe the answer to that is that he was injured? So is he fully recovered now? And is he fit? In which case, if he is so good, why didn't the Japs pick him?
I hope he produces all the skills we have heard about. And quickly. I hope we see a master-class in breakdown disruption.
I just have this nagging feeling deep down............

Haven’t seen the stats on his appearances but look, my enthusiasm is all based on levels:-
Ackermann took sub par Lions squad to 2 super rugby finals. Therefore awesome coach and better than prem. Therefore Glaws top 4.
Gaffney coaches at all levels of the game. Taking over squad full of internationals. Therefore knows exactly what to do to turn good into excellent and average into good in a few weeks.
Brussouw one of the top 5 ever openside ball stealers. Ever. Only 31. Fresh. Therefore kicks butt against prem English sub international back rowers, various other journeyman not at his level etc. From my SA mates, he’s also a top bloke and team player, works hard in training etc. I predict he will be MoM 25% of the time at least and will hit ground running.

No question mark over Ackermann. Top bloke, who is on his game.
No question mark over Gaffney. Top bloke who is on his game.
Broussow has not played this season. Why? Injured? OK, so is he fully recovered (not like George was!).
I also put a great deal into this on Jim's recent record on recruitment. With the exception of King Louis - who we could not hang on to - his signings have hardly been eye catching.
I hope you'e right and I am wrong. Just too much "previous" to trust in faith alone!

Was one of the best open sides in the world, he walks into the team for me if fit.
Getting players up to speed is BS.

This is one of those astonishingly ill-informed topics that seems to ignore masses of data proving people wrong just because they refuse to be proven wrong.
Lamont4Saints continues to genuinely frighten me.
Do me a favour, don't coach kids.

Can we all agree to just get behind the guy, trust the club get him integrated and match fit asap, we welcome him properly to the Gardens in the team colours... and then judge the decision?! Sounds simple, but feels beyond a few people posting!
C’MON YOU SAINTS!

Well perhaps you would care to share some or all this data rather than just fire off a very dismissive yet uninformative reply? That way, we could all have the opportunity to educate ourselves.

Yeah go on,
Last season the dullards on here poured scorn on a comment I made about Nic Groom needing time to bed in and learn the systems.
So look at his numbers & performances from the 1st six games of last season and the last six games of the season.

By the way, I'm not here to educate you or anyone else, if you watch games once & then come on here & say Player X is rubbish/amazing that's fine, but don't be surprised if someone disagrees with you actual evidence in the form of statistics.
I've seen players score 4 tries in a game and still have actually had really poor games. So have you, & people still think he should play for England...
...and still people will disagree because they can't admit when they're wrong.

If, as you infer, I am mistaking opinion for fact longers, then I would be far, far, far more vociferous than I currently am. Unfortunately the only way to get a conversation or discussion these days, both here or on most forms of social media is to behave (or at allow it to be perceived as) in a truculent manner.
I don't mistake opinion for fact, I do however, have little tolerance and do not wish to mansplain things to anybody who might realise they're are barking up the wrong tree if only they'd given it a wider perspective.
I'm afraid I do have little patience these days especially when in the past I have explained things in a wide context with evidence and then people have simply replied 'nah'.
If that comes across as crass, rude or vulgar, well... *shrugs*
