Going to be honest and say he's not someone I know much about at all. His record certainly seems good and Hurricanes are always great to watch. Here's hoping he's the man for the job and brings some Southern Hemisphere flair(and maybe a player or two?)

Heavily involved with NZ U20s to

Be interesting to see who he could bring with him

Good job by board, turned the appointment round very quickly, which ne sed to be done for new contracts n signings

An unsettled Julian Savea is a decent replacement for George, I guess? I'll be ok with that.

If Luther's contract is up then he always bring over Vince Aso if he wants. I won't complain!

As coach of the New Zealand Under-20s national side, Mr Boyd must have the phone numbers of quite a lot of useful young players stored on his mobile. Wonder who he'll think of offering a contract at Saints to - makes your mouth water to think of the quality of rugby we could be seeing at FG in a couple of years . . . .!

I can't see anything that particularly makes Saints a bigger job than any other established side that reasonably expects to finish in the top half of the table every year.

that’s because you’re a Northamptonian, it’s in the makeup!

we are a well known global brand, some of the worlds best players have played here, some of the worlds best coaches have coached here, we have some of the worlds most loyal and colourful supporters, we have a great setup

And now we will be very good.

Sounds great to me - recent success and an address book full of promising young Kiwis!

Not sure how the next six months or so will work, who makes the calls around contracts, both new and renewal from now until he joins?

Also begs the question around the coaching team, will they stay until he gets here, I would presume he's asked for free reign in that regard?

Excellent news, and congratulations to the Board on managing this very well. Chris looks like an excellent choice... with a CV to match our ambitions!

It will be interesting to see whether the coaching setup changes in the short term, and what his appointment means for recruitment/retention of players, etc. It looks like he lands just in time for the pre-season games... nothing we can’t sort over the coming months.

Well done Board.... and Welcome Mr.Boyd!

Hands up..... I'd never heard of him..... however looking at what he has achieved with the Hurricanes in the last three years, it is incredibly exciting.

Hopefully the address book is brimming with young talent... possibly with an English connection (like Dylan and T) and also tempting a Hurricane or two that aren't likely to make it to the International level.

Looking at how the Hurricanes like to play their rugby, if anything like that can be brought in up here, then we are going to be massively entertained. The fitness levels of their entire squad look amazing, the handling skills etc etc.

Time for a complete shake up at the Saints.... coaching staff included. (keeping Dowson and Digger please!)

Don’t know Mr Boyd nor do I watch a lot of southern Hemishphere rugby but what I have seen and knowing the quality of players at the Canes this has got to be a top appointment, well done the Board. Don’t think he has been mentioned anywhere either. Wonder if he was a Gaffney pick

As another’s plus you would hope players would now be falling over themselves to sign up for the Saints on the back of this appointment

I know some folks don't watch a lot of Super Rugby and fair enough not everyone has as much time on their hands as me (and insomnia) but stand on me, if we couldn't get Rob & Ali back, Boyd is very, very, very, very good. This quite frankly is a massive coup. Boyd could and should be coaching international rugby & we've got a real chance to stick the boot into Wasps, Sarries, Bath, Tigers, all of them.

The Beginning of the beginning starts today. We're still a big club, we're acting like it again with this appointment. Stick your chest out, sing loud and tell everyone you know we are back...

To be a NZ coach at any level is also an achievement - adding Northampton Saints to his CV will merely add gloss. Next season is suddenly looking more promising. I hope too that the team continue the recent improvement that the Gaffer has instilled. COYS!

Hurricanes play at the highest tempo in the highest tempo league & you'll see pretty much the whole team sprint the length of the field in support of a counter attack. I hope the lads enjoy cardio training as plenty will need it to play the way Hurricanes do.

I remember reading Robby’s excellent article on my way to the Gloucester match and I think he really nails some home truths with his; crisis of concience, confidence, faith and direction.

I'm not quite on the Robby Richmond scale of climaxing over it as yet, I'm experiencing more a feeling of hopeful satisfaction / excitement about the future. Certainly neither feelings I can equate with the club over the past 2-3 years.

DoR's don't really coach

Let's hope he has the funds to bring (or get) the coaches he wants, IMHO more important that coming with a raft of additional players (despite the fact we will have a much reduced squad by then)

He needs a mix surely. He won’t keep current incumbents en bloc. He will retain some and strengthen in 1 or 2 areas with his own picks. Most new leaders in any industry bring in their own lieutenants to supplememt existing management teams while getting rid of weakness or previous influencers

Not cheap I suspect, seems as if NZ have a constant flow of coaches who come over here, not always successfully, because the loot is probably much better. Meanwhile, top UK coaches are few in number.

He will need time, to expect a turnaround from August is a bit premature, squad and coaching staff changes are inevitable, Mallinder had a season in ND1 to instigate change, no such time for this new coach.

As I have stated many times, a big overhaul in both playing and coaching staff is very necessary.
I am delighted with this appointment on the proviso the above sentence comes to fruition.
I am more than prepared for it to take time.
