Interesting read with Courts doing a interview for England.

Says he is happy to play wherever, but prefers 6.
When you listen too the interview you can see he relates too himself more as a back rower at the moment.

Sounds like he is very intent on being a ball carrier and a impact player in terms of winning collisions and putting his team on the front foot.

IMO Courts has been great for Saints very consistently, but his better performances have come in the 6 shirt.

Does he play at 6 for us going forward???

For me he does. I know there are arguements for yes and no, but think the balance of our back row is far better when he is at 6 and adds a second ball carrying option along with T.
And with a fetcher at 7 in Brussow it looks pretty strong.

But please please please find a Top replacement for Daisy.

I think he's a 6 too.
I remember when he played 6 for England against France a few years ago and he was shocking. Worst game I've seen him play.
So I was filled with dread when we started playing him there this season but he's been awesome. He's showed how much he's matured as a player and I like the added influence he can have around the field at 6. Definitely a 6 for me.

Agreed Jericho.

Courtney has always been what was referred to as a 'modern' lock, which is now near enough the norm too be fair.

But from Saints point of view I think a back row of Lawes, Brussow, T has a good balance and dynamic.

In the Second row we have Api and Ribbans who are good powerful guys, with plenty of ballast.

We now need a Line out specialist and almost Specialist 2nd row that does all the traditional roles of a Lock really well to compliment Api or Ribbans and make the pack tick.

i think our back row has a wealth of options.

By saying that Courtney should be regularly picked as our best 6 does Gibson a huge injustice. He has been one of the stand out performers alongside Courtney and Tei this year.

If only there was a way to shoehorn them all in!

We could dispense with one of the wingers*.

I would be delighted if Courtney never had to play second row for Saints again.

Oh I know Stokey! I am a huge Gibson fan and like you said has been one of our best players this season!
Puts it on the line every game.

In fact the Player that would probably pay the price for Courtney moving too 6, would be Woody.
As Gibson is above him in the pecking order.

Gibo would still get plenty of rugby with Lawes being away a fair bit and his versatility to play 7.

I've never been a big fan of Gibson.... perhaps it was the fact he was an ex Tiger that affected my judgement, but ignoring the guy who's name is in the title of this thread, Gibson for me has been our best player this season.

When everything has been going wrong around him, he's put in some damned fine performances time and time again. My blinkered affections for Tom Wood at 6, (or Lawes), has been well and truly removed by Jamie's performances.

Those with a good memory will remember that Courtney came onto the scene as a 6. He's always been a 6.

I seem to recall DW saying ages ago he felt Court's long term future was at 6. I also recall seeing Toops coaching him there during an A league match in Henley when he was first tried there

Wow ... surprised you have never been a fan of Gibson Saint Kenneth. Quality player who over last 18 months or so is head and shoulders above Woody : and that's from someone with a man crush on Woody (just ask the wife !!).
Most complete performance tonight for a long time.
Please don't shoehorn Harry back in next week as he frankly will not deserve it !
