Matching them in the scrum
Took both our tries well - had wind behind so may be interesting second half.
Exe have been a few degrees off with ball not going to hand
Iíd sum it up as weíve been competitive

Well I am, and he was only on the pitch for part of the game.

The box kick by Reinach at 77.30 was the most brainless act I've seen on a rugby pitch for God knows how long.

I don't care who he has played for, that was stupidity of the highest order. There is no excuse. He has let down every single squad member by that one decision, as a win was then probable. Instead we gave it away.

Strange how, as said earlier, a week ago I would probably have taken that scoreline as acceptable!

Agreed, just needed to go through a phase and clear from 10, pull the ball back to 10 then, or go long...

Short high ball giving a 50/50 for them to attack was the worst decision possible.

This is a big improvement on what I expected. Losing/Winning in the last few minutes is all part of sport and Exeter win a lot of their games in the last 10. The fact that we were competitive for 70+ minutes sounds like a step up from last week.

Spot on Longers. I doubt that in all the team planning for match situations that any coach has told the 9 to box kick in that one. He is an experienced player who should know better. Brain dead play. I wonder if any 'leader' on the pitch told him to do that. Need a leader to grab the team by the collar and get them through those situations. All that hard work, all those bodies on the line, undermined by one play.

Not going to get many better chances to turn Exeter over at Sandy Park. We fluffed it this time.

Daisy was knackered at the end and gave up a soft penalty for not rolling away that put them in the corner.

Francis played well but Myler is a past master at game management - on the back foot but leading he might have been able to settle things.

2 subs that perhaps should have been made on 70 minutes... not sure who was on the bench at lock after Ribbans was swapped for Paterson though?

Come on Walks. Yes we did far exceed what many expected, but with 90 seconds to go and 6(?) Points up in possession of the ball we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. We fluffed it. That still shows a mental fragility or lack of on pitch leadership in my opinion. Sure, pleased with the LBP but we should have closed that out.

from my Chiefs perspective, Saints stopped playing with 10 mins to go, and tried to run the clock down. That change in mindset cost you the game.

It was just the boost Chiefs needed. I'm not sure Exeter would have been able to turn up the pressure and intensity without Saints letting theirs drop so obviously.
Had you kept playing, as you should have been, hunting for a TBP, or at least a kickable penalty, you would have deservedly won, with no complaints from me.

After time to reflect on a heart wrenching loss, there were many many positives. Our defence on the whole was much better, our attack seemed to have structure and we were only really outdone by the lure power of Exeter. Our creaky scrum had parity and at times, dominance. Luther played well, Horne seems to be really finding form. Brussow is getting up to speed quickly and I think, had we had been playing any team outside of Exeter or Saracens, we could have been looking at a tbp.

Anything but an Irish tbp would see us pretty much safe and had we won, we'd have been challenging for 8th and 7th place.

We played very well for 70 minutes, that is a stark difference from playing well for 10 minutes last week.

Bring on Sale and let's get the full 80 minute performance.

Who cares as long as we donít get relegated

There is nothing to really read into anything.... psychology, tactics, style of play, game management.... all of this changes in the summer

So I donít see the relevance in castigating anything right now.
