Amazing how this ever got past the notebook doodle stage. Must have looked good on a spreadsheet.

Player burnout can only be fixed by no relegation followed by playing time limits

The league would be pretty much meaningless without relegation. Dead rubbers left right & Centre.

I am strongly in favour of no relegation - partly because it would remove coaches' fears and encourage them to be much more adventurous with their team selections and bringing through young players and partly because there just aren't at present and unlikely to be in the future enough clubs which are viable enough to play at that level. I would be ok with increasing the size up to 14 if it was felt that teams like Irish and Carnegie could sustain dining at the top table but then I would ring fence it.

For me relegation is price that has to be paid for a thriving well-supported league. It's no coincidence the Prmeiership and Top 14 have the healthiest attendances, most competitive matches and most successful business models.

Super Rugby and Pro 14 are a match for quality but the lack of relegation means too many dead rubbers, teams not giving their all. This reduces fan interest, crowds and sponsorship.

For me it's benefits outweigh the detriments.
