The Bristol fans aren't happy with "The Bears" new kit - apparently warming up in leather is a step too far.

How on earth does anyone adopt a name like that? It will have to be changed, eventually. Due diligence? M'learned friends?

They’ll be lucky if they are not sued by the Memphis Grizzlies basketball team as the logo is almost identical.

Bath Centurions or something would be more fitting, what with the Roman connections

Bath Time gets my vote.

BBC with a brilliantly put quote by BBC: Bristol, the city itself, has no history of being home to any bears.

I thought it was the Bear capital of Europe, but shows how much I know. I wonder what the history of Gloucester and Lions are?

It is odd that fans didn't get a say in it at all. And I think because of that Brizzle fans aren't happy at all, although one quote I saw did make me chuckle a bit. Someone said that they have been called Bristol Rugby for over 100 years and they won't change for anyone. Um... Bristol Shoguns, any one?

There is two options - in my mind - rugby stays as it is and limps along with a desperate shortage of money and little to entice new fans or it entertains a new fan base
I know there are those who long for the days of the past preproffesional years when crowds reached 1500 at Best but times are a changing
We need money to pay good players who can compete

Bath Mats

I suspect all clubs will have a nickname soon, we all need the money.

On a serious note they could link it to their Roman history

Centurions or Legion or anything from Gladiator movie basically. Relevant and related to battle.

Bristol have just picked an alliterative animal and because Chicago has an NFL team called

if they want historical connections Bath connection what about Jane Austin - whose novels were all about the tribulations of the search for a good match.

Anyone else remember watching the Saints play the Chicago Lions some years ago?

They played a very different game with one memorable "quaterback pass" from one side of the field to the wing on the other side, as well as a "statue of liberty" play.

The FH appeared to throw a similar pass, but dropped the ball behind his back as he threw his arm forward. I think the scrum half or centre, running in the oppiosite direction, caught it and ran up the "wrong" side, while everyone else was following a non-existant ball.

Saints were winning easily, so in the second half we cheered on the Lions as a reward for their exciting play and non-stop effort.

Very memorable!

Yes the Bristol Slavers has a certain ring to it OP.

Bath should definitely use their historical connections, the Bath Waters, Bath Chroniclers.
