Nigel Wray had just bought the Trocadero centre in central London, and decided to use its entertainment(!) characters in a parade round the ground. So the likes of Sonic, Mario and I believe Noddy were walked past the main stand. but the Saracen Warrior was the best. Probably a reasonably costumed facsimile of the 12th century warriors he was greeeted with derision and scorn ( among other things) and lasted just another match.
However, as Gazza says, fans were expected to stand, in cages no less, and were not allowed into the fans bar as that was for Enfield Town only. Changing rooms were portacabins to the west of the stand, and the general atmosphere was less than welcoming. Ah, the good old days.
