Barters, I would be sorry to see Matt go, at the moment, as he is our best centre. In the longterm however we need to improve our options so that someone of his calibre would be at best on the bench. [I may be doing him a disservice here, as I know we can't have top rank players in every position, but having grown up in the days of J guscott I have a soft spot for a searingly scintillating 13]. So what I am saying is: if we wish to have any chance of winning the AP or the HC, then we need to totally reassess our centre options.
DBF, I realise that the management puts no importance on outside back improvements. I don't agree, as I think is clear from the above. For all the cries for the likes of Barkley and Banahan to be in the England team, it is just rose tinteds I feel. OB was excellent outside Butch James, but failed to deliver without. Banahan is not an international class anything. Quite where to play him is a conundrum, but if I wanted another forward as a 13, I'd pick Louw or Taylor.
