The real benefit of the handle pint pot IMHO is the ability to stack them and carry 4 or 5 one handed. Our group of North Stand regulars were using a set brought up from Saracens before the Falcons got on board.
Incidentally I took some to Kendal Calling music festival and they attracted loads of attention and envious glances.
For me, the cost of the deposit is a lot less important than the quality of what goes in it. I tried with Guinness for a couple of pints last Saturday before giving up and switching to cider. The black stuff in the West Bar that I had was pitifully poor, with no head from about half way down.
