Route 66 - your analysis is excellent.
Fear seems to me to be a major issue with England. Fear of losing? Being dropped? You have to be confident to win and NZ seem to have unbounded belief in themselves.
If I were coaching kids new to the game I would always tell them to run straight and look for the supporting runners rather than go to ground. To the players nearest the ball I would say support the man with the ball. Play and pass confidently - don't worry when the plan fails!
If this simple plan works for kids and NZ, I can't see why it can't work for England?
Personally - the endless kicking/high ball tactic is the real game killer - because it takes away the need to play ball in hand rugby. Yeah, it relieves pressure but what else does it achieve? It bores spectators rigid.
