In todays statement JK said:
"Im building a positive environment and culture at Harlequins, on and off the field, which I believe will ultimately allow us to challenge for honours.

When I read this my immediate thought was Why? Why does he need to build anything? I would have thought that a club with such a long history would have a well established culture with all the requisite policies, practices and procedures needed to provide the framework for players to perform. Furthermore with so many of the senior players having come through the Quins Academy the culture would already be established.

If he perceives the need to 'build a positive environment' (whatever that actually means) the obvious deduction is that the team suffers from a negative environment. That's a pretty damning admission from someone who has been a senior coach at the club for so long. Clearly it has happened/been happening on his watch.

JK is not the most erudite of DoRs but in the context of the situation I would have thought he would have chosen his words with a little more care. I could understand "improving the environment, building morale or changing the culture" all of which are perfectly valid.

Perhaps I am reading too much into this?

Nope you're reading it right.

He said that he had to bring in discipline and that everyone signed up to be part of this system (see article in the Times on the other post)

Yarde wouldn't do what he was told. He's gone. So Kingston is making a point.

I was told by someone at the club that under CoS the players had total power because he'd given the England lot so much decision making - hence the shambles that we turned into when they were called up.
