Uncertainty Reigns

Kyle's gone

By Lawrence Aggleton
July 4 2016

Well, we're into July now, over a month since the end of the season and just over a month before the pre-seaosn friendlies start.

There remain some uncertainties. Kyle Eastmond has been discarded, fairly unceremoniously. A hugely talented individual, Bath weren't able to get the best of Kyle in 2015-16 and there were some queries about his mental and phsyical fragility. Clearly these are sufficient to cause Bruce Craig to tear up the expensive contract signed with him at Christmas. Given Ollie Devoto's departure, Bath look awfully light at inside centre.

While George Ford, high off a great tour with England, confirmed his intention to stay out at least his 2 year contract with Bath, Rhys Priestland's future is less clear. Rumours continue to swirl about a departure to Bristol, but surely it'd be crazy to let him go at this point. LV Cup games during the Autumn Internationals will diminish the impact of his international absence, leaving just the 6 nations games to get through. With Hastings, Jennings, Fotuali'i and Bowden around, there's probably enough cover for 10 and 12 - particularly if Bath can attract an additional centre option.

TBH I don't know what to think at the moment other than hope and pray that the Club has a strategy and plan in place with takes us nearer to the top of the table next season. Things can't really be as bad as they seem....can they?

The TEAM need to come together and prove all the doubters wrong.

The performance in football of Leicester, Iceland and Portugal are evidence of a greater will succeeding against "more talented" players.

I do not have an inside track but this is what I think is happening at Bath.

First the story the club is for sale - the club is not for sale correct - however - someone or some group has tabled an offer for bath or as a partner to BC. It must be a good offer as it has thrown a spanner in the works.

No Manager - I believe there was a manager lined up but unfortunately that person let the club down. They then went to their second choice and that person said I don't want to be a second choice..... So they are now scrabbling around for a manager.

Obviously, there is no plan 'C' which is why we have heard nothing official. However - there are a number of Old Boys from Bath Rugby who have said they are happy to take the Managers job and so BC has nothing really to worry about - he just wanted a 'name'.

If I was BC, I would communicate the above to the fans who will understand the situation and help BC with some good advice - my advice - recruit an ex Bath player for the Managers job. Accept a partnership offer as in the end - we all want to win the Prem and Europe.

I don’t have an inside track, but I’ve heard that Prince Charles has made Bruce a partnership offer.

I believe that out goes Dyson in comes Duchy Originals.

They say Cornish pirates to be our feeders, rather than these public schools.

I’ve been told Prince Harry is to be ‘Manager’ – he played the game at school and I believe he still has his boots and I think Bruce likes father and son combos.

You don’t think so? Leicester City, Eng v Aus, Brexit, Theresa May, Donald Trump!

Dare to contradict me!
