All units apart from half-back look good enough. Desperately hoping there willl be a rabbit from the hat in that area. Also wish we could swap Roberts for something younger and funkier. Need Willison to stay fit and find his best form.

Pleasantly surprised by the number of EQP in both the squads and supports the home grown commitment from Hoops et al. It's not a squad to win the Prem but it should produce some entertaining rugby in 19/20 & I'll settle for that at this stage...

Lucas Noguera Paz spelled incorrectly. I really like the way Max Wright developed this year and think that he could be our 12 for a while.

Roberts only has a year left I think from a chron article I read recently - if so will do for a season while the double Max-factor develop

I wonder if SH (in conjunction with with Tcool smiley has deliberately concentrated on the forwards getting the full complement in place so Bath can be dominant up front first then strengthen the weaknesses in the backs later. Both were ex forwards after all.

I wouldn't mind that, thats what Exeter and Sarries have done and thats were we need to be, though I recognise it might not be pretty.

I'm sure you're right SW - but i'd like to them to include 9 as the means to dominate up front too.

Couldn't agree more Opti, when you see the likes of Hougaard, Rheinacht and Heinz poaching the flat ball with intercepts and Mitchell on Sunday clearly lively its clear we are missing a trick.

NB. Quite amused that B followed by a bracket ends up as the emoticon cool smiley The initial post was a refererence to TB.

Last season? He only started 2 premiership games.

Reinach seemed to get one every game!

Yes, vs Sarries in October, 1:21 in the highlights.

Granted the other I was remembering was longer ago vs Toulouse [mobile.twitter.com]

Yes, that senior squad shows a very real commitment to developing England Rugby.
Not a bad representation in the senior academy as well.
There must surely still be a surprise to come!

I just had a look at the Bath squad on the Bath website, Will Britton, Jack Davies, Tom Doughty, Ollie Fox and Levi Davis are all listed in the first team squad. Have I missed their promotion?

Very true, nothing in their twitter accounts to indicate a change but its clearly recently happened, academy looks a bit empty now!

There will be a baptism of fire for some!

Must be one or two more!

I reckon all of these are in play one way or another - 3-4 will get replaced by Academy promotions, a couple will extend, but there's got to be room for 3-4 signings.

Henry Thomas
Noguera
Garvey
Willison
Roberts
Homer
Clark
Levi Davis
Atkins
Alex Davies
Freddie Burns

Also i wonder if these are also off contract?

Flo
Cook
Green
Chudley
Wright

Would be keen to keep homer personally. Top notch stand in, versatile, good kicker....looks in decent form and injury record improved last few years a bit.

As you say i imagine 8-10 will go. 4 or so upgraded from academy, 4 or 5 new signings. I would target 9/10, 2 centres and maybe replace henry

It was reported that Burns was after assurance from Bath/Hooper that he would getaway run of starts before resigning. [www.somersetlive.co.uk]
While I like the story of him returning to his boyhood club, there has been little to get excited about his performances unfortunately.

Other than Green, Levi and Atkins as they are young with potential and possibly Clark or Wright for backup. I really wouldn’t be that concerned about keeping any of the other out of contract players, they are generally at the wrong end of their careers or unfortunately plagued with injury.
The squad building approach that other teams have taken is to bring in a bus load of South Africans, they seem to be reasonable value, highly available and often very impressive athletes. I’m not sure if this is what Bath need, we have plenty of bulk, we seem to need smart rugby brains, so a young James Wilson/Jimmy Gopperth type or two would seem to be the requirement.

BathMatt53
BathMatt53

For James Wilson, Gopperth type they could do worse than Lozowski, as was noted on another thread. Quality player, just under the England radar and versatile.

I think that Chudley has another year. Max W is young and plays both centre positions so if JR and JW are off he is a must keep IMO.

I thought Wilson understood positioning and attack play as well as anyone when at 10 in recent times, would have made a good backs coach IMO.

Did we let him go because we had too many Wilsons and Willisons?

For me, looking back through when extensions have been signed, in the past it looks like majority of contracts sorted in January with the odd one or two sorted outside of that window. Midway through Jan now, we’ve had 4 extend which is great. Few more to come hopefully?! If not done by Feb then maybe they’re off?
