The Bees now have untill the 23rd November to confirm way forward

RFU Statement

The RFU Management Board met today and discussed the situation at Birmingham and Solihull Rugby Football Club. The Board noted that the club had put itself into voluntary liquidation yesterday (27th October) and could not therefore participate any further in the Championship in its original form.

The Board reviewed a detailed proposal for a new company with new additional investment sourced from local investors which could be set up to take on the playing responsibilities of the old club. This includes a plan for continuing to support the amateur elements of the club.

To preserve the integrity of the Championship, and the other clubs playing in it, the Management Board has agreed to grant a temporary licence to the new company to compete in the Championship until the end of November and to enable them to put into effect their restructure and complete the fixtures through to that date.

However in recognition of the fact that the original club went into liquidation, the Management Board has applied a penalty of 15 points to the team which is effective immediately.

By 23rd November the RFU Management Board will be looking for documentary evidence that the establishment of the new company and all other financial and legal issues have been dealt with in accordance with the proposal and to the Management Board's satisfaction. The RFU will issue a further statement at this time
