London Welsh scrum half Rob Lewis has signed for the Cardiff Blues ahead of their return to Cardiff Arms Park next season.
Former Newport Gwent Dragon Lewis, 24, has enjoyed a highly successful season at London Welsh, winning the National League One however bizarre RFU ruling means Welsh were denied promotion to the Aviva Premiership.
Instead, the Ebbw Vale product has opted to return to Wales following his move to England in 2009. He has represented Wales at under 18, 19 and 20 levels as well as numerous outings with Wales 7’s.
Lewis’ arrives in the wake of Ritchie Rees’ departure. The popular scrum half appeared to be frozen out of the team at times during last season, and has since completed a switch to Edinburgh (Edit: Not Connacht!) along with long-serving prop John Yapp.
Lewis is likely to be heavily involved in RaboDirect action next year, with current first choice Lloyd Williams likely to be out with the Welsh national squad.
