"It has been great and I'm looking forward to another season," said Hagan, who was on the Ireland U-20 team coached by Eric Elwood and Dan McFarland which won the Six Nations grand slam in 2007.

Connacht CEO Gerry Kelly said that in a week when hooker Sean Cronin is included in the Ireland squad to play England at Twickenham in the RBS Six Nations, it is very encouraging to see young players prosper after moving to Connacht.

"Jamie is having a great season and has been a big addition to our squad on and off the field and it is great that he is committing to Connacht for another season," said Kelly

The 22-year-old year has been a big hit in his first season at the Sportsground and has lined out 15 times for Michael Bradley's side in the Magners League and Amlin Challenge Cup.

The Dubliner, capped at youths, Under-18 and Under-20 levels for Ireland, says he is delighted with the progress he has made and was looking forward to a second season with Connacht.

"It has gone well for me and I have really enjoyed it. My own game has progressed and as a team we have had some great moments. "We have a European quarter-final to look forward to and there is a lot of rugby between now and the end of the season," said Hagan who will be at the Sportsground until the summer of 2011 at least.

Yep very good news indeed, hopefully Jamie continues to show the attitude and make the level of progress he has this season. Long way to go but the makings of a top class prop...
