NUNEATON'S push for National League Three North title suffered a setback at Kendal. The Nuns could not handle the home side’s speedy wingers, who shared six tries between them. In attack, the visitors struggled to make an impact on a Kendal side that tackled ferociously and gave them no space at all to play, so much so that it was only a spirited late rally that saw the Nuns score 25 points
and salvage a losing bonus point.

Kendal’s left wing Lewis Boyd was the Nuns’ main tormentor, scoring four tries – two in each half – while his right-wing colleague, Zane Butler, added another two. Fly-half Rob Aloe added 14 points with the boot, scoring two penalties and four conversions.

The only bright spot for the Nuns was Gary Holmes’ first-half try and they were trailing 37-5 with ten minutes left to play.

The final part of the match saw the visitors run the ball from all parts in search of the bonus point and they were rewarded with four late tries.

Holmes grabbed his second score of the match with Adam Takarangi, Tim Douglas and Adam Bray all touching down.

Kendal: tries Boyd 4, Butler 2; conversions Aloe 4; penalties Aloe 2.

Nuneaton: tries Holmes 2, Takarangi, Douglas, Bray; conversions Thomas 2.
