Kendal 30 Broadstreet 5

BROADSTREET suffered their fifth National Two loss on the spin as they were humbled 30-5 at Kendal. After a great start, Street are rapidly sliding down an increasingly competitive league and badly need a victory very soon. Craig Wilson gave the hosts the best possible start when he scored in the corner, with Mark Ireland adding the extras.

And Street found themselves up against it when Gary Hodgson went over for Kendal’s second try, while Ireland added a further three penalties.

Wayne Lester then gave the visitors a passage back in to the game with a well-worked try, but James Gough and Ireland’s boot quickly slammed the door shut.

“I think it’s fair to say that it wasn’t our best day at the office,” said coach Ed Simkiss. “It wasn’t the greatest performance we’ve ever given, and we were in trouble early on after a terrible start. The second-half was ugly to be honest, and I think maybe it’s a case of us having to brush this one off and go again, because other than the bright moment of Wayne’s try, that was a forgettable display.”
