DAVE Addleton blamed Coventry’s third defeat of the season on a failure to convert pressure into points. The Cov forwards coach was frustrated by his side’s 27-15 loss at Rosslyn Park, a result that saw them fall from sixth to 11th in National Two.
That irritation was exacerbated by the fact Coventry had plenty of opportunities to seize the initiative but failed to take them.
As a result they had to settle for tries from Greg Evans and Liam Munro, which Addleton sees as a poor return on the endeavour Cov invested.
“There were times in the game when you take it by the scruff of the neck and we didn’t,” he said.
“We had four or five lineouts in the opposition 22 and we couldn’t execute them, we lost valuable possession there and we knocked on a couple of times in good scoring positions.
“Everyone was disappointed, it was in our control but we just didn’t take advantage.”
Addleton, who played more than 350 times at hooker for Coventry, promised to take a good look at the lineout ahead of this weekend’s home match with struggling Macclesfield.
