England Rugby December 2016 - In Review
The Rugby Football Union is delighted to announce Prince Harry as its new patron, following a Buckingham Palace announcement that Her Majesty The Queen will be handing over the patronage at the end of this year.
The Queen has been patron of the RFU for 64 years having held the role since 1952, after taking over the position from her father, King George VI, following his death. More Here
Eddie Jones has announced a revised 45man elite player squad here
Eddie Jones has announced a revised 45-man elite player squad (EPS) and named the 33 players who will attend a two-day training camp in Brighton as England begin their preparation for the RBS 6 Nations. The 33 players will assemble in Brighton from 2-3 January ahead of the opening game of the tournament against France at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday 4 February (4.50pm).
The extension will enable hospitality to be accommodated within the stadium while not increasing the overall capacity.
The new East Stand extension will create additional space of 11,600 sq m over six levels, as part of the upgrade. Each level will be distinctive in its design, celebrating and bringing to life the unique aspects of the home of England Rugby, while also delivering a bespoke hospitality experience for guests.
The space will cater for a range of different audiences with new bar and dining areas to private fine dining facilities. As part of the redevelopment, facilities will be created exclusively for existing England Rugby debenture holders.
For the first time, debenture holders will have the option to customise and benefit from enhanced debenture packages, which will include access to formal and casual dining options, exclusive access to private lounge and bar areas and also car parking.
The new England Rugby debenture holder offering is part of the RFU’s commitment to improve and modernise the match day experience.
"We’re delighted that the Planning Committee voted to support our plans to upgrade the East Stand at Twickenham Stadium and we welcomed additional feedback from Richmond Council at the planning meeting," said RFU Chief Executive Ian Ritchie.
"We now look forward to progressing plans that will ensure that Twickenham Stadium continues to be a world-class facility and a facility that also brings benefit to the local community.”
