England Women got off to a brilliant start in Dublin. being their 10th Test win in a row.   They have Italy and USA to play in their final two pool games.    England produced an attacking performance against Spain scoring 10 tries in their defence of the RWC trophy they won three years ago.

Wing Kay Wilson scored four tries as they began their campaign with a convincing 56-5 win over Spain.  Megan Jones and a hat-trick from Kay Wilson gave England a 24-5 half time lead at the UCD Bowl in Dublin as Spain crossed just before the break out wide after a quick tap penalty.  Replacement Emily Scarratt scored two minutes after the break, with Harriet Millar-Mills, Alex Matthews, Amy Cokayne, Lydia Thompson and a fourth from Wilson saw England break the 50-point mark.

Wilson continued  with a display of clinical finishing in the first half as she grabbed a 27 minute hat-trick.    She finished off a slick move with quick hands out wide for her first before expertly taking a Katy Mclean crossfield kick to dot down for a second.   Wilson got her third after a smart one-handed take and finish, and a burst of pace in the second half got her a fourth score.   The Richmond flyer, who scored a record-breaking seven tries against Scotland in the Six Nations earlier this year, has now scored 32 tries in 47 outings at international level.

England broke the deadlock after just a minute with a powerful run from Jones on her Rugby World Cup debut.
The Bristol centre was solid in attack and defence throughout and hit an excellent line and showed neat footwork on her fifth appearance to dot down for the perfect start.

Captain Sarah Hunter spoke following the game.  England captain Sarah Hunter expressed her delight with the win post match, but admits there is room for improvement.

"We're really happy to get a good win under our belts, get the first game done and for us that is job one done," she said.
"Spain came at us and caused problems at times. We had to work out some areas and really dig in but it's pleasing to get a run out. There is certainly a lot for us to look back at and improve on for our next game." "It's tournament rugby and you have to win every game..."

She added: "In the build up to this tournament and since being here the focus has very much been on us, we haven't really acknowledged external pressures that others are putting on us, we are very much one job at a time and today was just about Spain and preparing as best we could to come here and execute.
"It's tournament rugby and you have to win every game that is put in front of you, so it's a job well done for the girls, we will rest, recover and look at what we need to improve on ahead of Italy."
