Martin Johnson & Rob Andrew Gillette Podcast Interview

Martin Johnson arrived at Twickenham today insisting that he has his eyes wide open. The England and British Lions legend takes on the job as England Team Manager on July 1 and he’s under no illusion about the task ahead.
“I go into the job with my eyes wide open, it’s not about ego,” said Johnson on today’s Gillette Rugby Podcast. “I’m very aware of the perception people have, that it will all be alright if I come back, but it’s never been about that, it’s about a collective effort on the field, off the field and around the team. “Opportunities arise and this past six to eight months I was thinking of getting back into the game, how and when I wasn’t too sure.
“I spoke to Rob (Andrew), he put the question to me about the job and I had a good think about it and consulted a few people. It wasn’t an emotional quick reaction to say yes, it was a well thought out one.”
