Chiefs look for return to winning ways at the Madstad

The Chiefs will be looking to get back to winning ways when they take on Irish at the Madstad following two weeks without a win.  Irish on the other hand will be desperate to get some points on the board to try and get off the bottom of the table.

   PWBP  Points
1Sarries 12 10 2 5 45
2Chiefs 12 8 4 9 41
10Falcons 12 3 8 2 16
11Wuss 12 2 10 6 14
12Irish 12 3 9 0 12

Previous meetings between the clubs at the Madstad have, apart from the Chiefs maiden season in the Prem , been close fought affairs with any loss resulting in a LBP with the Chiefs winning just 2 from 6.  Looking at the table Irish have not picked a bonus point of any kind so far this season whereas Chiefs have 9 in the bag including 2 from the previous two weeks losses.  Indeed Chiefs were the only top four side to pick up a point last weekend.

Rob Baxter is unlikely to make too many changes as he likes consistency in the side but I can see some rotation being made in the back row.  I wouldn't be surprised to see Don Armond and Kai Horstman given a start with Thomas the Tank and Julian Salvi getting a rest on the bench.

The Don has been on fine form this season as has Kai and I think The Tank would benefit from a breather.  Having said this The Tank will be itching to add to his try tally as will James Short who is certain to nsatrt against his old club.

It appears that Dave Ewers isn't far off a start but Rob Baxter has stated it won't be at the Madstad but it's great to see he's almost ready to take the field again.  It's also great to see the Chiefs new signing, Wallaby utility back, Lachie Turner arriving in Exeter this week.  I'm really looking forward to seeing him add his considerable talent to our back three.

I kinow the Chiefs won't be taking anything for granted but I can only see one result on Sunday, A Chiefs win and maybe another bonus point.

Without being disrespectful to Irish, I see this game as a possible 5 pointer. If we have eyes on a top four, maybe top two finish(to gain that important home semi)then we really need to be winning this game with that win bonus.
No game is easy, Sale away was always gonna be tough as was Sarries at home but both those games could have been won with a little more luck and some different decisions from Sir.
I also think we fans need to start believing that this team of ours is actually capable of achieving something special this season.

Time for a pipe of Old Toby!

The top 4 have all dipped over the last couple of weeks which thankfully hasn't changed anything significantly for us. Had we had 'the rub of the green' so to speak, then we could be top, as it is no one can deny we are deservedly top 2.
There's a wealth of talent returning from injury and Rob is very excited about Big Dave's imminent return.
