Q the latest to extend Glaws contract

Q - two more years

The traffic going through the revolving door at Kingsholm is getting busier by the day as more players sign new or extended contracts, and more are linked with a Gloucester exit. It’s going to take time to get a clear picture of the sort of squad we can expect to see in place next season, but at the moment the good news appears to outweigh the bad.

Things, as they say, just might be looking up.
Fiji flanker Akapusi Qera is the latest to extend his Glaws contract, adding a further two years to the deal – a move described by coach Bryan Redpath as a great boost for the club and the team.
Qera is the seventh Glaws player to extend his contract (Nick Wood, Alasdair Strokosch, Scott Lawson, Freddie Burns, Henry Trinder, Charlie Sharples), and Redpath expects more to follow as the club continues talks with those who are wanted at Kingsholm.
He told the Citizen: "Q brings real dynamism to our back row. He gets around the park, he carries well and scores plenty of tries.
"He works hard and he's still keen to learn and develop his game. He's settled in well here at Gloucester, is popular with the rest of the squad and he'll bring a lot to the side over the next couple of years."
But with clubs all over Britain as well as rugby league teams jockeying for position for players, there are strong rumours that Lesley Vainikolo could be one of the high-profile players on the way out. Some believe that after a stuttering career at Glaws following his switch from Bradford Bulls, he could be on the way back to league with Wakefield Wildcats.

However, he scored his first try of the season against Biarritz and is thought to be in talks with Glaws over his future.
Meanwhile, Glaws face Newport Gwent Dragons in South Wales in their final Heineken Cup pool game at the weekend, and even though the chances of them going further look very slim, it’s important that they follow up last weekend’s impressive win over Biarritz with another good performance.

The fact that players are showing that they want to stay with the club is a positive sign, as was the Biarritz performance, but whatever their fate in the Heineken Cup, Glaws have a lot to do to restore pride in the Guinness Premiership and getting into better shape before their return to the domestic game is important.

Re: Q the latest to extend Glaws contract
Could it be that we will go into 2010-11 pre-season with a full squad in place, so everybody knows the plans for the season and where they stand?
If that happens, what we have been going through on the pitch this season could be all worthwhile.
Fingers crossed.
