Brett Deacon
The 27-year-old won’t join the club until after the end of the current season, but coach Bryan Redpath says he is delighted to have done the deal at a time when team building for next season is going at a cracking pace.
Just days after Olly Morgan became the 11th Glaws players to agree an extended contract, Redpath says signing Deacon is a major plus for the Kingsholm squad.
He told the Citizen: "We're pleased to have secured Brett's signature as he's a good age, is English-qualified, has a lot of experience in a winning environment at Leicester and is ambitious to establish himself at a new club.
"It's always a tough decision to leave somewhere you've spent your whole career, but it reflects well on Brett that he was prepared to make the move. We look forward to welcoming him in the summer."
Meanwhile, Glaws have what looks like being their final LV game at Quins on Sunday, but six days later they have a far more important fixture against them at Kingsholm as they return to the Guinness Premiership for their first game in the competition since January 2.
That was the disappointing home draw with Worcester, but since then three cup wins have given the team and the fans a major lift and with Redpath’s team building apparently going well, there will be high hopes of another morale-boosting win to get the Premiership season back on track.
A good performance and a good result on Sunday would go a long way towards setting up the team for the GP game, and Redpath will be keen to see an improvement on last weekend when he felt the team failed to cash sufficiently in on their superiority against Wuss.
