Falcons Lose Plot

Newcastle Falcons will set a world record when they take on Glaws at Kingston Park on November 21st. They will officially make more noise than any other rugby crowd - it's guaranteed because nobody has ever had any remote interest in registering the decibels at a rugby game.

They've even got officials from cash strapped Newcastle City Council, and the Aviva Premiership, to record the volume on a night they are billing as ‘bring the noise.’

Anyone who has been to Kingston Park will know that it's not big on atmosphere, or crowd numbers, and has wide open spaces on the old club side.

So why they've chosen this barmy stunt against the club which has the backing of the world famous Shed is rather odd.

One wonders if Dean Richards has heard about all this and, if he has, is he a tad embarassed?

I think you will find the atmosphere at Kingston Park on a Friday night under lights is something special and what's wrong in keeping youngsters amused by measuring how much noise they can make.
At least they won't be subject to a football crowd attitude - unlike one rugby ground I can think of.
