Greg Laidlaw has been one of our best signings for years and he fully deserves to be nominated as World Player of the Year. It will be a tall order to jump to the head of a queue which contains Dan Carter, Michael Hooper, Alun Wyn Jones, David Pocock and Julian Savea. But just to rub shoulders is a massive honour ..
His metronomic kicking and leadership will be vital for Gloucs as the season unfolds. At present we have the talent but not the direction.
After dominating much of the game against Warriors we almost contrived to lose it -only a tight decision on a forward pass from Warriors' Darren Barry kept the score at 24-22.
We would argue that a Jonny May try should have stood when a similar decision went against a pass from Billy Meakes. Such is the fine line it a competitive league.
We did get scores from Richard Hibbard, Sione Kalamafoni and David Halaifonua. Billy Twelvetrees notching three pens.
