Late scores from Charlie Sharples and Steve McColl secured a 33-20 at La Rochelle - on a night when the playing of the game and the togetherness of the crowd was more important than the result.
The Glaws players all wore tricolour armbands to show their support for the French nation following the horrors of a week ago.
Against a massive home pack the forwards refused to be bludgeoned out of the the game and kept us in touch throughout.
We went into a 19-13 half time lead but the home side came out all guns blazing and took a one point lead ,which they held for most of the second half as we valiantly stopped them from increasing it.
Then came another big finale from the cherry and whites.
With 10 minutes left Heinz broke from a ruck. The ball was shipped out wide for Rob Cook to send Steve McColl in at the corner. The TMO was asked if there had been a foward pass - there hadn't. It gave Billy Twelvetrees plenty of time to line up his tricky conversion and he succeeded.
La Rochelle banged on the door only for Charlie Sharples to collect a loose ball and set off on a run which bamboozled three defenders on his way to the line.
We are on 8 poiints and Warriors on 4 wiuth their game to come at Zebre on Saturday. If they win that one it sets things up nicely for the two games against them next month. Whoever comes out best of those encounters will win the group.
