Away Win Required

Owen Williams

Loads of injuries but we can still turn out a strong squad which needs to notch our first away win at Sale ... another Friday night game (8.00).

There's so many out that we could raise a full side simply by knocking on the physio's door. However, it's the fit lads we are interested in and there's a few of them in the pack who are being "rotated" to the bench.

Motu Matu'u, John Afoa and Jacob Rowan are the players to step aside with Richard Hibbard, Gareth Denman and Lewis Ludlow starting.

The injuries make enforced changes in the backs where Charlie Sharples will be missiing for some time after rupturing a finger tendon. Henry Trinder is in the centre and  David Halaifonua and Henry Purdy on the wings.

We may also see Owen Williams for the first time as the Welsh fly half is named on the bench.

Glaws: 15. Jason Woodward; 14. David Halaifonua, 13. Henry Trinder, 12. Billy Twelvetrees, 11. Henry Purdy; 10. Billy Burns, 9. Willi Heinz (captain); 1. Val Rapava Ruskin, 2. Richard Hibbard, 3. Gareth Denman; 4. Ed Slater, 5. Jeremy Thrush; 6. Freddie Clarke, 7. Lewis Ludlow, 8. Ruan Ackermann

Reps: Motu Matu'u, Josh Hohneck, John Afoa, Tom Savage,  Jacob Rowan,. Callum Braley,  Owen Williams,. Ben Vellacott.

Sharks also have a useful fly half on the bench in the shape of James O'Connor the Aussie who joined Sale in the summer from French club Toulon and who underwent ankle surgery during the summer.

Our opposition are one place below us and have already been beaten at home by Falcons in a game they simply couldn't close out.

Sharks: 15 Mike Haley, 14 Denny Solomona, 13 Sam James, 12 Mark Jennings,11 Byron McGuigan, 10 AJ MacGinty, 9 Faf de Klerk, 1 Ross Harrison, 2 Rob Webber, 3 Alex Tarus, 4 Bryn Evans, 5 Josh Beaumont, 6 Jono Ross (captain), 7 Ben Curry, 8 Josh Strauss

Reps: Marc Jones, James Flynn, Halani Aulika, Andre Ostrikov,  Tom Curry, Cameron Neild, Will Cliff, James O'Connor
