Hard to Stomach

John Afoa Try

By New Cherry
January 7 2018

It wasn't our day. Stricken by an overnight stomach bug the Glaws squad looked like achieving a hard earned win at Franklins Gardens only to be undone by a last ditch penalty try to lose 22-19 ..

Ken Pisi have the hosts an early lead but we came back with a penalty try of our own from a catch and drive which was pulled down by Api Ratuniyarawa.

James Hanson and John Afoa crossed to help us to a 19-8 lead well into the second half.

Howver, Nic Groom scored for the Saints and then it all went wrong as we presssed for a bonus point try.

Sadly, we lost our line-out and then we were penalised at a scrum before Henry Trinder was harshly judged to be offside.

Saints pressed but a catch and drive was stopped only for the TMO to be called into action. He ruled that Andy Symons had collapsed the maul and the penalty try did for us.

Only one losing bonus point but still fourth.
